VIBE, Ch. 18: An Artist Is Alone Even In A Crowd

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paul Gaugin, Georgia O'Keefe, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, Ai Weiwei, etc.

An Artist may be in a crowded place but the work means solitude.

An agent of creation revels at a party, works in an office, connects to a chat hosting hundreds, interacts at an event attended by thousands or billions, but their work stands alone.

Art is conceived, committed, and created one-on-one with oneself.

Solitude does not mean an island retreat, a personalized re-enactment of "Walden", or riding the razor's edge to enlightenment. Their cabin in the woods is one of the mind.

The borders of their true studios are marked inside themselves.

The work is done when a quiet mind is stilled into action.

**This is where the work of quiet minds in solitude is done.
**
Breathing half-awake thoughts at dawn,
Pacing long walks under the sun,
Floating drowsy notions at dusk,
Hunting the true second mind, a spirit on the chase, asleep.

This is where the work comes to life.

Owning accountability and taking responsibility, for what is created, recreated, and destroyed in one's name.
No-one else can assume or own this.
Creation that feeds the Artist is not by committee or overseer.

Each Artist is alone in the crowd, in their true work.
