Most of you know me as a profile picture, some tweets and from my first mirror article. With my Sound Genesis this Wednesday, I thought I’d show you a bit more of who I am.
Growing up, I never thought I would pursue music for a living. Being a professional artist was reserved for the chosen ones, so I confirmed that path out of reach. I learnt the piano, the drums and even the saxophone as a kid but eventually I lost interest, despite my teachers praise. I’ve always expressed myself creatively, studying graphic design, film and media at A-Level (which lead me to directing and editing my own music videos) and I launched my own clothing brand.
After I left home at 18 to study Fashion, I bought a microphone and started recording my first songs on Audacity and FL Studio. During this year, I realised there was no other path that would fulfil my soul, so I graduated and moved to Manchester to get a degree in Electronic Music Production.
That was the single best decision of my life. I found my people, my purpose and developed my skills as a producer, engineer and songwriter. In 2021, I was chosen as a Rising Star for adidas’ Forum Studio, where I had the privilege of recording at Abbey Road Studios and subsequently released The Abbey Road Tapes. This was an unforgettable experience that solidified my belief in myself and confirmed that I was on the right path. Other personal highlights of my journey include working with slowthai, getting my first Boiler Room performance and raising £700 for War Child.
Which brings me here. I have a vision for my future that I believe web3 can help manifest. I don’t care about the number of streams my song gets, I care about the number of genuine human connections behind those streams, bringing people together and forming a collective spirit of harmony. I hope that by being as truthful and open as I can, I can inspire others to do the same, creating a chain reaction of positive energy.
Until next time, peace n luv.
