Elys Network Monthly Gazette: July Edition

Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to our monthly gazette. The purpose of this gazette is to provide clarity on what we are doing and ensure transparency. We've always emphasized these values, but with the exponential growth of Elys Network, it can sometimes be challenging to maintain a level of "fair" transparency and clarity.

Today, we will address many questions you might have and try to answer them as accurately as possible to give you a clearer vision of the future of Elys Network, and more importantly, your future with Elys Network.

Community and Community Program

Our community has always been incredibly important to us, as it should be for many projects. A community is primarily made up of people who are interested in the same things and who want to move forward with shared values. Of course, many of you probably came initially for the incentives, but you stay for the good atmosphere and the sense of belonging that it can bring.

For us, it's crucial because it allows us to improve our products, the way we interact with you, and directly with the future users of our products. It is extremely important for a project to always listen to its community, whether it's about the good things, which is often the case, or about the less good things, because that's how we improve.

To participate, just join us on discord :

Community Roles

Our community program was born from this principle with initially three roles:

  • Cadet

  • Brigadier

  • General

Old version
Old version

But we changed that

We've removed the general role, which never had a real place, and instead added a role between Cadets and Brigadiers.

Now the new program is:

Cadets

Cadets are community representatives. They are there to learn but also to guide. This role is summarized by the desire to share, to always learn more, and to pass on acquired knowledge to newcomers.

A cadet is someone who enjoys being part of our community, participating when and how he or she can.

Majors

Between cadets and brigadiers, we introduced the Majors. Majors are people who have already accumulated a lot of knowledge and are capable of sharing it accurately with the community. They are real guides for newcomers and often start initiatives that help Elys Network to shine on social media or to help to onboard new users.

Unlike a Cadet, a Major needs to know and understand the Elys Network perfectly, create sub-groups, a specific X or instragram account and what they say must always be accurate and uniquely presented.

Brigadiers

Brigadiers are more involved members with specific skills related to moderation, or they are influencers who already master certain aspects of social media.

How to Become a Major?

To become a Major, you need to:

  • Have accumulated and be able to share accurate knowledge with the community either on social networks, telegram or on discord, in an ingenious way, maybe even a little funny if you feel up to it. (Elys lounge is a good example)

  • Participate in initiatives that benefit Elys Network such as the examples you will find below.

Examples of Majors

  • Mustafa: Creates videos and logos for Elys Network and for those who request them.

  • Elys Lounge was developed by a small group of users, on their own, to add humor to Elys Network while bringing information in the right way.

  • Eric: Helps on Discord every day for many months (even years). He also does a lot of reporting and gives us a lot of important information, always looking for ways to make the community more lively.

  • Gandalf: Always on hand to guide newcomers and find bugs whenever he can. He also does a lot of reporting, trying to find solutions to recurring problems and spreading the word about Elys Network to different communities every day.

  • Rana: Manages an Italian Telegram group on his own initiative.

Participation and Contributions

There are many ways to participate:

  • Create content on X or any other social network: Share insights and information about Elys Network, educate people about Elys Network (popularization is a good way, future-oriented type of content as well).

  • Create Memes/GIFs: If you have a knack for humor, share your creations with us, but we are looking for real art here, not copy / Pasta from a GIF maker for example. We also want some context around the GIFs with a funny X post for example. It's not just about creating a GIF or a Meme.

  • Produce Educational Content: Help others understand Elys Network in multiple languages on Youtube / X / Whatever, it's your choice, but by the same logic, you won't be accepted if you've simply reprinted our blog posts.

The content must be original and not copied from our blog articles. The goal of a Major is to give more to the community, which differentiates them from a cadet.

To be very clear, very few people are going to be able to become a Major, because it takes time out of your day and requires a lot of creativity.

But it's open to everyone, so if you give it a try, you've got a chance. Maybe you won't even get the Major's role, but the Cadet's role.

This week, a new form will be available for you to:

  • Submit your already created content / Account.

  • Share your ideas if you need our help.

We will review the applications and assign the role of Major to those who want to do something different for Elys Network, bringing real added value. From there, we will start to work on your initiative with you if needed.

Incentives

Majors

  • 500,000 ELYS will be distributed over a period of one year, starting near mainnet launch. The volume distributed will vary depending on the number of Majors and their contributions. Until the mainnet launch, we will evaluate contributions monthly. Majors who remain active until launch will receive their first allocation, and then we will re-evaluate every two months and distribute rewards at each evaluation.

Brigadiers

  • 500,000 ELYS will also be distributed over one year, with distribution defined at the discretion of the Elys Network team, and according to the effort made by our brigadier on a case-by-case basis.

Cadets

  • 428,400 ELYS are dedicated to Cadets. With specific criteria, you can aim for the Serial Community Member NFT. Currently, we are keeping these criteria secret to encourage organic participation. You’ve already seen the first two essential creds: Cadet and Quizlord. Two more are yet to be revealed!

When you see this mechanism, you can see right away that we expect long-term commitment from our Brigadiers,Majors and Cadets. Of course, you can always be a Major or a Brigadier for a while and then leave - it's your choice. However, these two programs will last a year, to give everyone a chance to get involved. If these two programs prove to be a success, we'll run them for a second year.

The Testnet

Our testnet has always been praised for its fluidity and simplicity over many months. However, recent updates have degraded the user experience with the addition of new features that were not optimized. We have recruited four new developers and parted ways with two others, as you may have heard from our Community call last week, requiring a period of adjustment for the new team to find its footing.

Link to our testnet:

Current Issues

  • Ledger Compatibility

  • Swap for Higher Tiers

Every problem raised by the community is processed by our developers thanks to a ticket system and resolved before closing the ticket :

  • First: The issue is raised by the community in the Feedback channel or in comments on X by users.

  • Second: Community investigation, if we find a significant number of cases, we open a ticket.

  • Third: Our Development team acknowledge the ticket and try to reproduce the error locally.

  • Fourth: Depending on the results, a patch is planned and put into production, or further investigation begins.

  • Fifth: The problem is solved

As you can imagine, this kind of process can be time-consuming, and understandably frustrating for you.

While this may seem tedious, it's an important process that many projects don't really adopt, so what the community thinks of their project doesn't really matter, and they can't evolve to meet the needs of their users, which is a shame.

But we don't take anything lightly, and we always make sure we have all the facts before we communicate. That's why sometimes you might think we're not listening or communicating. Most of the time we're just investigating.

At Elys Network: Community and User experience first, always.

Phase 2

We understand that some users fear not being able to obtain a Phase 2 Tier 1 NFT due to technical issues preventing them from completing quests. During Phase 1, the maximum possible interactions were 330, and the threshold was set at 195 (60% of total interactions). For a phase that lasted three and a half months, this meant participating for just two months was enough to earn a Tier 1 NFT and only one month for a Tier 2 NFT. Our second phase is no different, we will use the same type of threshold, for the same reasons.

The primary objective of a testnet is to identify and fix issues along the way, hence the incentive program. Your participation helps us spot potential mainnet issues, which is invaluable and necessary, and we thank you for it.

Sometimes you will encounter errors, and sometimes these errors might persist for a few days or weeks. This is why during the snapshot, we never count 100% or even 70% of the possible interactions, as we know some users might be affected.

We continue to stabilize our testnet with regular updates and to stabilize the chain. Once everything is stable, we will release our PerpDEX, while we continually improve our UI and UX to meet your expectations.

The Airdrop

Many of you have questions about the percentage of the total supply allocated to our airdrop.

Airdrop Details

  • 5% (10M ELYS) of the total supply will be distributed in three different airdrops over the first year of the project's life.

  • First Airdrop: Comprising ATOM Stakers / Community Program / Testnet / Mainnet Launch represents 63% of these 10M ELYS tokens, which is 6.3M.

    • 61.2% allocated to Testnet / Mainnet Launch: 3,855,600 ELYS

    • 6.8% allocated to the Community Program (Cadets): 428,400 ELYS

    • 16% allocated to stakers / Statom Holders / Stkatom Holders: 1,000,000 ELYS

    • 16% allocated to Brigadier / Major programs: 1,008,000 ELYS (This part will not be distributed all at once as explained previously).

More information on the split between Testnet and Mainnet launch will be provided at a later date. A programmatic reward system will be set up to reward with a bonus those who continue to use Elys Network during the mainnet.

But we want you to have the choice, so you'll be able to get your initial airdrop from the testnet, and the bonus may be quite substantial for those who wish to continue the adventure.

The remaining 37% (3,700,000 ELYS) will be distributed in two RetroDrops during the first year to our community and users.

At each airdrop, any undistributed portion will be returned to the Airdrop token pool, increasing the subsequent airdrops.

Our NFTs

Our NFTs weren't just created for the coming airdrop, far from it.

It was never our intention to create something that would only last a few weeks or months.

Our NFTs are a community vehicle, whether phase 1, phase 2 or the golden ones.

The mint will be announced in the coming days, probably 2-3 days before it starts.

We're still working with stargaze on the contract to mint your NFTs, as the platform didn't support this type of mint before (they work like crazy and this team is fantastic!).

And of course, for those of you who don't know Stargaze, a tutorial will be provided to help you.

These NFTs represent a “proof of membership” of the Elys Network community.

Today they have an airdrop attached to them, which you will be able to claim around mainnet launch.

But these NFTs come with much more than just an airdrop:

  • The airdrop part related to the mainnet will come with an additional percentage for NFT holders.

  • These NFTs can be bridged on the Elys Network mainnet in the future, and will also give access to future Elys Network airdrops, of course.

  • These NFTs are also important for the projects we work with, which will also use them to valorize our community.

These NFTs mean that you are part of the Elys network, and that everything that has a direct or indirect impact on us also affects you!

For example, we're currently in talks with several projects that want to promote our community and therefore our NFTs through partner programs.

What if we evolve a little the actual trend related to NFT airdrops ? What if a project with more than a PFP concept can do the same thing ?

The impact would undoubtedly be much greater, wouldn't it?

It's a real experiment that we're carrying out, and today many projects find it very interesting. We can't wait to see how it turns out, even if we can't promise anything, of course!

So the Alpha we gave you during ou last Community call on X is true: keep your NFTs, because they're much more valuable than you might think, and certainly more valuable than a one time airdrop.

You can watch the community call here:

We will provide much more information as we approach the mainnet launch regarding tokenomics and our whitepaper. In the meantime, this should give you a real idea of the numbers involved in our airdrop.

Thank you for your continued support, and welcome to the era of UniFi with Elys Network!
