ETDAO is a space exploration Decentralized Autonomous Organization built on Ethereum. We directly connect people and scientific teams to fund or launch space exploration projects without intermediaries. In the long term, ETDAO hopes to find out the best form of organization for human exploration of space.

Why Now

Looking up at the stars, we‘ve been wondering, questioning, if we are truly alone in the vast unknown universe. Ever since our ancient ancestors first leave their caves, we have never been able to make our way back to our small, tiny world - humans are curious descendants of apes.

Curiosity is deeply ingrained in our DNA and the mission to explore space belongs to everyone, but it constantly compromises on our Organizational Form over the course of history. 50 years after the Apollo project, we did not go back to the moon is a stark fact. We need a new solution.

The right of space exploration should not belong to any nation-state or organization. Only when we abandon our old ideology and join forces from the perspective of all mankind can we truly be motivated to promote the sustainable development of space exploration.

Another advantage is that as the cost of space exploration continues to fall every year according to Moore’s Law, the barriers to space exploration are coming down, and we can see that a new age of civilian space has dawned. We could foresee that more and more commercial companies and sovereign individuals will enter the space field. The protagonists of space exploration are shifting, and we will see the same prosperity we saw during the Age of Discovery back in 16th century.

That’s why we built ETDAO. ETDAO emerged in the context of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, which allows us to collectively trust the same open ledger and coordinate the power of people all over the world like never before. And because on-chain voting is open and transparent, we can fund or launch space exploration projects that everyone actually votes for.

Moreover, recently issued laws officially recognizes the legal status of DAO as an entity, which means that DAO can carry our offline entity activities, and we will have the opportunity to become a major force in space exploration.

Why Join ETDAO

ETDAO is the first DAO about space exploration in human history, and each explorer will become a part of mankind’s journey from earth to space. DAOs are eating the world, and you will be at the forefront of this great change.

There haven been similar space-exploration projects in the past. An organization called SETI hoping to search for extraterrestrial intelligence by gathering decentralized computing power. It was this project that led to the discovery of the “WOW Signal”. In 2020, Alberto Caballero conducted further research on the signal-related data and found that the signal originated near The Constellation Sagittarius, and within the region of the signal lies a fixed star. It is an identical twin to our sun, with the same temperature, radius, and luminosity (research detail).

However, the program was shut down several times as the U.S. government cut spending. The New York Times commented, "Ear to the Universe is Plugged by Budget Cutters.”

ETDAO’s goal is to bring together real explorers to help research teams and individuals launch space exploration projects. Each community member who buys the ET tokens has the governance rights to jointly decide what space exploration projects to launch such as sending interstellar probes to search for extraterrestrial intelligence, or setting up a colony on Mars making humans a multiplanetary species, etc.

  In this stage, we will build ETDAO into a sustainable space exploration organization. Continue to go further into the aerospace field for further space exploration.

The Cosmos extends, for all practical purposes, forever. After a brief sedentary hiatus, we are resuming our ancient nomadic way of life. Our remote descendants, safely arrayed on many worlds through the Solar System and beyond, will be unified by their common heritage, by their regard for their home planet, and by the knowledge that, whatever other life may be, the only humans in all the Universe come from Earth.

They will gaze up and strain to find the blue dot in their skies. They will love it no less for its obscurity and fragility. They will marvel at how vulnerable the repository of all our potential once was, how perilous our infancy, how humble our beginnings, how many rivers we had to cross before we found our way.
