This is the first post of Ethereum Singapore!
Why another crypto newsletter? Don’t we have enough of those already?
Ethereum Singapore wants to offer a view into the local crypto/web3 space beyond the superficial coverage of the mainstream media.
We want to highlight the efforts of folks that are working in Ethereum and more broadly the Singapore web3 ecosystem.
I don’t want this to be a generic newsletter. We don’t just want to feature the glamorous stories of CEOs and founders who have millions of dollars AUM. There are interesting stories there, but there’s many more. We want to interview local web3 folks and hear their stories. These will be community leaders, researchers, developers, and artists.
Most importantly, this will be a schelling point for Singaporeans interested in Ethereum and are helping out with the Ethereum Singapore meetup. We’re gathering the community once more and will be having many more activations soon!
Are you an artist behind a NFT project or blockchain game? Or a zero-knowledge developer on a DeFi protocol? We want to know what got you interested in the tech and what drew you into blockchain space.
Are you an analyst in one of the many countless local VC crypto funds? We want to hear your investment thesis and what you think are the biggest problems facing crypto VCs.
Or maybe you’re a bankruptcy lawyer handling the fallout of one of many 2022’s fallen warriors. We want to hear about how that whole process is different from in traditional finance.
Everyone’s journey into web3 is unique and very much informed by the first few people they meet. For many, it was the Ethereum Singapore meetup group that first got them started. Or maybe it was through a workshop teaching DApp development, a Salad Tuesdays event, reading important research papers, or just going through a lecture.
These are the stories we want to spotlight. Why did they bring you in and why are you still here?
I’m always surprised by just how myriad the Singapore web3 space can be. Even though we’re on an island that measures just 50km from East to West, we don’t seem to all know each other already.
2022 put Singapore in the spotlight with the never-ending coverage of companies based here - Terra, Three Arrows Capital, Hodlnaut - that crashed after one another. I think it’s time to celebrate the people doing good work here too.
It has been a fun year, here’s just some highlights:
Our student communities held a FinTech month in January featuring web3 very prominently.
Contributed an entire compendium on blockchain law.
DeveloperDAO hosted a VibesIRL event right in the heart of Singapore.
Ran a series of 4 events featuring speakers from APAC in September to celebrate Devcon VI finally returning.
We’ve had a vibrant blockchain landscape for quite some time and now that COVID restrictions have lifted, life has returned to our sunny island. We’ll start with some interviews in the following weeks starting with Sid from Kernel!
This mirror publication would be an effort to bring together and showcase the Singaporean community. So here’s what we can do:
Read and share the publication if you like it!
Recommend folks that you think ought to be featured, because I’m not omniscient. DM me!
Help write articles! Especially if you have experience working on publications because I sure don’t.

Thank you for reading and joining me on this journey! Here’s a little view of our island city.
