When Everything Was Still a Waltz

We thought: how can we create a network that facilitates the construction of products and experiences that the community values, chooses to dedicate its time and provides benefits at the individual and collective level?

Some Context

Samba?! But why SAMBA?!?

The social spell of samba is remarkable. Pure pluralism. Community. Technology. Yes, both samba and computing involve using patterns, algorithms, and structures to create something new. Dona Ivone Lara owes nothing to Ada Lovelace. Both figures were pioneers and used their knowledge and skills to push the boundaries of what was possible in their respective fields. And here we are: remixing Samba with Ethereum.

Someone might think that ‘Brazil is a party’. But in reality, the system here is complex, you bet. Nobody gets away with opening any newspaper without impunity. Lack of transparency. Inequality. Pyramids on one side, scarcity on the other. But could we, instead of fixing this system, build new ones? More prosperous for the flowering of an [Infinite Garden].

Likewise, Ethereum will need smaller parties processing transactions independently to scale, ETHSamba's "garden of shards" will be its samba players. We understand that the idea of ​​a scalable Ethereum network capable of processing more transactions is positive and encouraging. And the expression "there will be samba!" reflects this confidence and optimism very well.

The Ethereum Community in Brazil

This is the proposal to create ETHSamba, an Ethereum meta-community in Brazil. A transparent, people-oriented organization whose primary mission is to help spread the Ethereum ethos, with a focus on spreading knowledge, building the mutual infrastructure and supporting the next generation of developers, researchers, architects, designers, economists, community builders and creators in general.

ETHSamba is in the design phase, driven by Solange Gueiros, Luca Cosivi, Thiago Catarino, Felipe Faria, Henrique Aragon, and Jeff Beltrão while expanding with the support of several relevant members of the Ethereum community in Brazil and worldwide.

Aiming at a Social Constitution, We Declare:

1st: Promote Knowledge Sharing

From individual to individual, community to community, together with the Ethereum Foundation, ETHLATAM, and other global Nodes

1. Creating research and development partnerships to share knowledge and resources;

2. Participation in national and international programs and events (IRL, URL);

3. Agreements and investments to facilitate the flow of resources, knowledge, and technology;

4. Facilitation of access to international conferences and forums.

2nd: Promote Conscious Growth and Progressive Distribution of Property

Through Education, Inclusion and Radical Transparency

1. Expand trust and legitimacy of the network through terms, mandates, and experimentation with governance systems and progressive distribution of network ownership;

2. Regional capillarization of social and cultural nodes and implementation of Ethereum software (full nodes);

3. Promotion of events for the interaction of professionals, partners, builders, creators, financiers and supporters;

4. Creating funds and coordinating resources allocated to the development of the community and its projects;

5. Ensure network defensibility, node autonomy, and radical transparency in resource allocation;

6. Support projects that aim to solve important and/or urgent problems such as governance, social justice, and climate.

3rd: Implement Plurality that Drives Collaboration at ETHSamba

The plurality and inclusion of minorities bring several benefits to societies and organizations. Some of them include:

1. A variety of perspectives represented expands the field of possibilities to be considered. This can lead to more innovative and effective solutions.

2. Representativeness of the needs of these groups are considered. This can lead to fairer and more equitable policies and decisions.

3. Cultural diversity fosters creativity and innovation. This can be especially important in an open-design space such as innovating in Blockchain, Crypto and Web3.

4. Belonging and Diversity enhance an organization's reputation, attract talent and develop a sense of ownership.

5. Contribution to a more collaborative and respectful organizational culture, where differences are valued and everyone feels included.

6. Seizing Opportunities When an organization understands a multitude of needs and wants they are able to seize market opportunities.

The Call to a Samba Circle - Call to Adventure

Objectively, these actions are:

1. Organize work circles with autonomous missions, governance, and workflows related to the principles, values ​​, and goals of the meta-community;

2. Create open-license playbooks, frameworks, and blueprints that offer physical-digital resources and methodologies for prototyping, bootstrapping, operations, marketing, software and hardware engineering, talent, business modelling, tokenization, and more;

3. Establish a rhythm of interaction and connection through workshops, lectures, meetups, bootcamps, hackathons, and more;

4. Create a ThinkTank - carry out experiments, research, and produce reports that benefit from a deeper understanding of the local context;

5. Create mechanisms for curating and promoting community projects with grants;

6. Radical expansion of infrastructure full-nodes;

7. Promote the exchange of knowledge as well as matchmaking of projects and opportunities, whether professional or educational, at a local and global level;

8. Incorporate a governance mechanism that allows for radical inclusion and transparency
