With the advent of Web3, blockchain and decentralized applications a new era of social networking is arising, in which users have greater control over their data and can more easily connect with individuals.

It is in this scenario that LensTags is born - a community-driven platform that leverages the power of curation and composability to help users discover and organize high-quality resources on the web.

Who are we

We are a team of builders dedicated to enhance the #Web3 ecosystem and drive widespread adoption. From Latam to the world, we combine our experience and knowledge to achieve a real and significant impact on the way we connect.

We are community, we have our roots there and we are proud of it. Our team members are and were part of some of the biggest LATAM communities, including SEEDLatam, ETHLatam, Mujeres en Crypto, among others. These communities have not only inspired our work but have also provided us with the necessary support and feedback to help shape our vision for LensTags. We believe that being a part of them is crucial to our success, as it allows us to stay connected with our users and to continue to learn and grow with them.

The project was born out of the need to create a place where users can easily manage their bookmarks and at the same time discover what other people or curators are reading. As crypto natives and researchers we've always been bothered by the problem of information overload and the lack of effective solutions on the current web2 solutions. We wanted to step up.

The Journey

We all happened to be in the same place at the same time and started brainstorming ideas for a new project. We knew we wanted to create something that would make a real impact and add value to the crypto community, something that we ourselves would use.

It started at the Bear Builders Hackathon, where we decided to build the project together.

Before starting #LensTags, we already knew each other from actively participating in local communities. Our proximity to the people allowed us to have a different perspective and focus on the needs of users.

Our dedication and passion for the project led us to win the hackathon, secure Grants, and be selected in the Kleros Incubation program.

Starting in January 2023, we began working on our project full time, having already been working on it part-time and since then, we've been putting our hearts and souls into it. We're passionate about what we do because we know that it's a real problem faced by many people in their daily lives. We believe that our solution can tackle this issue and provide a unique and efficient way of managing online resources, adding real value to the experience.

LensTags is growing more and more every day, focused, iterating and optimizing strategies each week to achieve our goals.

But how?

We are determined to transform the social network landscape and propose a new way to discover and manage resources on the web. We started building on top Lens Protocol due to their social graph/Infra and to leverage a large web3 user base waiting to try new things.

Although we're still in day -1 and continuously working and improving, with LensTags you will have the ability to:

• Explore a curated feed: a community-driven curation system sets our dApp apart from traditional information management tools, and is a vital component in making our platform a go-to option for social discovery of resources across the web.

• Create Lists: a core feature within LensTags, they provide users with a way to organize and categorize their collections. This allows people to easily view and interact with specific groups of content, rather than having to scroll through their wallet.

• Discover and use Tags: When a user posts a publication they will be able to add Tags to it. When exploring through the feed people can filter the posts selecting the tags of their interest. Stay up to date with what you are interested in by filtering by Tags!

• Read from verified curators: Users with certain expertise in a particular topic will have a custom 'Badge' as proof of their knowledge and reliability (Advocates, team members of a project , etc).

• Public space: With just one click, you can create a public link to share them with the entire web. Anyone with the link (no sign-up necessary) will be able to view your wall but not make changes to it.

• Extension: LensTags can be utilized in your preferred browser through our browser extension, allowing you to collect items with ease.

In the upcoming blogs, we will elaborate on the fundamental abstraction and the basis of our tool for thought. We are optimistic that the composability and the new form of interaction provided by web3 will pave the way for more projects that prioritize users first.

Although we have a long road ahead with much work to be done, the journey so far has been amazing, the learnings and the experiences are invaluable, as are the people we met along the way.
