This Thursday, 22nd of Feb, Fuel Name Service launched the platform to claim domain names on Fuel. Finally, Fuel Network users can get a name for themselves! It’s one step towards our goal to help the adoption of Web3 by making crypto addresses human-readable and, therefore, easy to use and less confusing.
Earlier this year, we announced the launch of the project’s social networks - there, you could claim a WL for the Fuel Name Service for free, to get access to the domains launched on the mainnet (if you were late to that, don’t worry, we’ll open it one more time later on).
Now, you can test the service itself - and get the domain of your dreams for the testnet, or, if lucky enough to find a diamond domain, get a free name on the mainnet.
Note that Fuel Name Service is supported by key ecosystem projects like Thunder NFT Marketplace, Spark Order Book, and others - and will be integrated with Fuelet Wallet and other services soon. More exciting partnerships and integrations are coming soon!
In Web3, domains are equal to your Instagram nickname or name on social networks (sometimes, they can even include profile pictures!). A Fuel domain is your nickname on Fuel Network! With their help, you can craft your unique Fuel Identity by choosing the domain that will reflect your personality, be it taylorswift.fuel or degen.fuel.
Domains are memorable. That way, they also contribute to security, making human error less likely as it’s harder for users to send crypto assets to the wrong or malicious address.
To show gratitude to our community, our team randomly chose 100 domain names and marked them as diamond ones. If you are lucky and found and minted one before others, you’ll get a free 5-character domain when the mainnet comes.
The search may require a few attempts, so be patient. You will see if the domain is diamond only when it’s minted. It’s not an easy task, but it’s 100% worth it!
The prices for the Fuel domains on the Fuel Beta-5 Network provided by the Fuel Name Service will depend on the number of characters one wants to include in the domain:
1. Visit our site https://fuelname.com in the Google Chrome browser.
2. Connect your Fuelet Wallet to the site, and ensure that you have enough testnet $ETH to get a domain.
3. Browse the domain name that you wish you could have.
4. Connect your X account to the site, and subscribe to the Fuel Name Service X.
5. Choose the number of years you wish to rent the domain for (as the Fuel mainnet launches in 2024, you won’t need more than a year at this point).
6. Complete your transaction.
7. Voila! You have a domain and associated NFT to control it now! If you’re lucky, it can be a diamond one 😉 Don’t forget to share it on Twitter with your friends! Also, changing your Twitter nickname to your domain might be a cool idea.
When you claim the domain, you’ll automatically receive its NFT to your Fuelet wallet address. While you have it on your account, you can change the wallet address associated with this domain. Here are a few steps on how to do it:
1. Go to https://fuelname.com and connect your wallet.
2. You’ll see a list of domains you own; choose the one whose address you want to edit.
3. Replace the address in the special field.
4. Don’t forget to click on the “Update” button.
5. Done! Now this domain belongs to the address you filled in!
After receiving your domain, you can also get the corresponding roles on our Discord server:
testnet.user.fuel - for all domain owners, use this Zealy quest.
diamond.fuel - for the Diamond domain owners, after you complete the previous quest, use this Zealy quest.
As you can see, Fuel Name Service and your Fuel ID provide a solution for a lot of use cases: from seamless logins to combating fraud as well as a valuable investment, community achievement, and a self-expression tool. Hope, you’ll enjoy it!
