TL;DR
If you’re new to Fractional Uprising Studios, welcome!
We are a gaming/production studio, the alpha of our first production, OpenSeason, is live on Epic Games Store now. Coming soon, players will be able to play the beta version of the game by simply entering an access code, and earn rewards based primarily on skill. It is time to move the needle on web3 gaming anons, and we think the future of "crypto gaming" is way more focused on actual gaming! Make the game fun. Focus on rewarding skilled players. Don't put web3 onboarding between players and the game experience. This is what we're building, for all who wish to participate.
Cold shivers can be sent down many a spine by simply uttering: ‘web3 gaming’, connotations of an endless grind, chore-like tasks to earn in-game points only broken up by the annoying need for transaction signing. Uninspiring right, and not exactly disruptive, and or likely to bring the already distrusting traditional gamers on side. The fun factor has been MIA, the user experience off-putting and leading to dwindling interest despite the hefty development budgets. It’s time for onchain gaming to get off first base - powered by Arbitrum.
Enter OpenSeason from Fractional Uprising Studios, the newly released Fortnite style battle royale, live on Epic Games. To begin - we are removing the web3 friction point for players on day one, while also ensuring a fun game with more than a few chuckles thrown in. We have built custom solutions to seamlessly onboard players and also allow players to turn their existing NFT collections into their ticket to come play, and to be rewarded for onboarding others.
A challenge particularly specific to crypto space is user security, downloading literally anything is rightly met with suspicion and raised security eyebrows, so the fact OpenSeason has gone through the in-depth and broad Epic vetting process is a huge win and validation for the game and its developers. Solid foundations like this are crucial to success and survival for any web3 focused game.
As background, FU Studios funded the current games development by a public sale of FU Studio Pass NFT. Each NFT represents a unique gun skins that will be replicated in game. In alpha, these NFT passes are how early players access the game, and they also open up a new dynamic and create incentive for the NFT holder to bring more players to OpenSeason. The team at FU has created a novel way for non-native crypto users to access the game with nothing more than an Epic Game account and a freely generated ‘access code’ distributed by the Studio Pass owners. These NFT holders become growth agents for OpenSeason, and for crypto more broadly, simply by handing out access codes to come play a fun game.
In the end, we know none of the friction removal and growth mechanics will matter if the game is not fun. OpenSeason is a blast for several reasons, the game is colorful cartoonish styled and filled with crypto and meme lore to uncover. The game is chock full of lore and easter eggs for crypto and NFT lovers, but with widely recognizable characters and memes to engage any casual gamer while waging battle and earning rewards.
NFT, memes, and crypto avatars: Imagine playing as your favorite NFT character—whether it’s a CryptoPunk, a Milady, Bored Ape, Pepe, or a RetroDoge. The game brings these collectibles to life.
Dynamic Biomes: Each area on ‘JPEG Island’ has its own vibe. From the Apes’ Swamp to Milady Village, you’ll explore diverse landscapes and adapt your strategy accordingly. The next community commissioned biome is launching soon and will be filled with wow.
No wallet required: We built a simple way to connect your Epic Games account to your web3 wallet, allowing for unique interactions with NFTs, FU Membership perks, and in-game assets. But new players won’t need to do any of this. Simply enter an access code and start playing the game and earning rewards.
Beans are good for the heart: Soon players will collect and compete for ‘Beans,’ an in-game virtual currency. They can use it for drip in the soon-to-be-launched FU Store, or create/connect a wallet and export it into crypto if they want. It’s as onchain (or not) as you want it to be.
Skill To Earn: being good at something should be rewarding, in OpenSeason it is. A majority of weekly rewards go to skilled players.
Battle Royale Mayhem: Who doesn’t love a good battle royale? Scavenge for weapons, outwit opponents, and fight for survival. The adrenaline rush is real. More game modes will drop soon to further intensify the experience.
Early Access Excitement: Being part of the alpha/beta versions means you’re shaping the game’s future. Get rewarded for bringing normies into the arena and come journey alongside your fellow gamers to a pixelated Valhalla.
The team at FU Studios has been working hard for several years to get to this point. A small tight knit studio that has accepted no VC money and has had no pre-sale of the project's token - FU Money, now trading on Arbitrum.
OpenSeason will soon move beyond the alpha state on Epic, we ask for your support, come play our game for free, join our community, and help shape our direction.
Building on Arbitrum was an obvious choice given the strong desire shown to support builders in the crypto gaming space, and offering a superb user experience to support our in-game economy. We are excited by what the future holds for our players and studio. We hope to see you on the battlefield of JPEG Island soon.
