Gnars are on-chain skateboarders who Skate or Die Dao every 666 blocks. 🛹

They are born to shred the Nouns, as they are both skaters and the terrain on which they skate. If you’ve ever ridden a board (or played thps), you’ll know very well the importance of balance, so choose whether you Skate or Dao wisely.

But first…

We’ve acquired Noun 189 via skateordao.eth as the official Gnars mascot just in time for the Super Bowl. As part of Nouns DAO the possibilities are endless and exciting!

Now back to the importance of balance…

Skate or Dao?

If you’re the winning bidder, how you balanced SKATE and DAO sets what portion of proceeds go to the Gnars creators versus the Gnars.org charity ‘endaoment’ fund.

Let’s say you throw a 50/50 bid of 1 ETH and win the auction:

• 0.5 ETH goes to supporting the creators
• 0.5 ETH goes to the charity ‘endaoment’ in support of skateboarding related causes starting with The Skatepark Project by Tony Hawk and co.

Gnars are trustlessly auctioned just like Nouns, but rather than auctions lasting 24 hours, these last 666 Ethereum blocks (about two and a half hours).

Settlement of one auction mints a new Gnar and kicks off the next auction. RIP to Gnars with no bids, they get burned (death by gravel rash apparently). 🔥

Born to Shred?

From day one there’s a mini-game where you can connect your wallet, play as your favourite ‘nounish’ NFTs among others, and compete for a spot on the leaderboard.

A dedicated secondary marketplace, GNAR HAUS, will be live on ZORA protocol, so you can avoid marketplace fees while a 6.66% royalty funds the leaderboard prize pool.

We’ve nounified the awesome create-auction-house template as a gift to the Nouns DAO community. By changing a few variables that’s our marketplace done.
