Can you guess what type of marketing is the most important for NFTs and Web3? Try and guess.

The type of marketing that works best for NFTs is called Trust Marketing. It’s been around for decades but doesn’t get talked about much anymore.

In this series of blogs,** I will provide the best tips I’ve learned from the many books and articles I’ve read about trust marketing.** The techniques I’m recommending have also been proven in the field.

With so much media being thrown our way, it’s hard to sit down and learn something deeply. So I’ll be teaching in small bite-sized chunks. You only have to catch the main points each day.

The Money will come

In trust marketing, your marketing and advertising goal is not to make sales. That’s what everyone else is doing. Your goal is not to make money. It’s to gain trust. And then the sales will come.

Let’s try a little experiment to show the power of trust. Today when you’re going about your day, observe the actions you take and how much trust is involved in your decision-making. Would you be making these same decisions without having trust in other people?

With all the scams, hacks, DM phishing attacks, and Ponzis… it’s obvious that web3 & NFTs have a trust problem. The most difficult environment to make sales is in a suspicious and mistrusting environment. (Welcome to Discord).

One of my favorite aspects of the blockchain is its trustless nature. So **the blockchain is trustless but scams surrounding it run rampant. **That’s embarrassing.

You need to find a way to get around this major hurdle if you want to build a community and make sales.

You can do that with Trust Marketing.

It’s safe to say “Trust Marketing” is the most important marketing technique for web3 and NFTs.

According to marketing wizard Dan Kennedy, there are 8 characteristics to gain trust fast!

They are:

Authority — doctor, lawyer, accountant, police officer, fireman

Affinity — shared background, experience, philosophy, fraternity

Credibility — factual basis for trust

**Longevity **— years in business, in the community

Celebrity — being known or being known for something

Familiarity — reassuring omnipresence

**Frequency **— the more often heard and seen, the more easily trusted

Second Party Transferral — earned, engineered, borrowed, rented, purchased endorsement

Place — geographic or target market; being for a particular customer

Demonstration — seeing is believing

(Read through this list and try to see how each of these generates trust in its own way.)

In my next blog, I’ll explain how some of these can be used in building trust for an NFT project. And how you can start using it to make sales.

I’ll leave you today with a quote about trust:

“Trust is only gained when one person risks and doesn’t get harmed. It grows as both people increasingly risk and don’t get harmed in the process.” — Glen Williams
