Welcome to the Graveyard Shift Weekly Recap. The goal of these blog posts is to provide context going into each weekend's graveyard shift twitter spaces.
Yes you can mint the article for under $10 if you would like and that is more to support our efforts each week and make the twitter spaces better.
How to use mirror on Optimism
The market is slow, projects are slowly getting more and more sell pressure and gas is low. Perfect time to sit back and simply enjoy the projects you are in for what they provide.
Remember over a year ago when everyone was stoked about the tech and innovation happening in the NFT space? Then how NFTs went on a rocket ship past anyone's expectations. That is such an important time to remember.
It was not obvious who the winners would be but you could follow the technical innovation and make some educated guesses. I think that’s happening right now. Now is the time to dabble in a ton of projects and find the ones that simply give you joy. Find projects that are doing things you have never seen before. Go beyond the PFP narrative and understand a PFP was a proof of concept for NFT adoption. What is coming will melt people's minds.
The goal is to have fun, if you are going down the rabbit hole and legit having fun with a NFT project you might strike gold in this bear market. We are not going to advance this industry by playing slot machines with PFP free mints. It’s time to shift focus on who provides a good time.
It’s really that simple, the more we have fun the more people stop caring about floor prices. Watch what happens when we get back to having fun.
CLEANING UP: Over the past few weeks I have been contemplating a “Spring Cleaning” of my wallets and the NFTs that reside in them. It was on my mind as I continued to think about my longterm goals and aspirations within the space. The daily flipping game is not for me. I want to collect NFTs from teams that I believe in and keep space for potential new ones to arrive. The way my wallets have looked recently had me contemplating where to begin.
What does this mean? It means I’m exiting certain projects that our no longer “sparking joy” as well as trimming down on some that maybe I felt needed a trim. I will never be the collector that has gobs of ETH to play around with so it is imperative that I cut my losses at some point to accrue as much scraps I can to add to projects I’m long on. It also allows me to add to my 1/1 and artists based projects to ensure that my collection there is always growing with pieces I will keep for life. I guess at the end of the day it just means I’m moving on from some things and trimming down my exposure as much as I can. It won’t be a fast process, but my god will it be worth it.
NFT CONTENT: One of the biggest things that has irritated me in the space is the chorus of people that scream for content who then never actually take in the content. We need more quality content on all things NFTs, Crypto, and WEB3, but those of us that are here need to actually support those creators with feedback and shares. If we can’t even support the people that are already doing this as “WEB3 Lovers” who the hell else is going to? Think about it the next time you are in a regular space talking and listening about nothing. TIME IS VALUABLE.
10KTF: It is officially Level Two minting day and man am I excited. I think back to minting my three genesis pieces and thinking, why in the hell am I minting these random daypacks. This was before the team was known and before their deep connections to Otherside through masterful storytelling was ever a thing. I honestly thought I may have wasted precious ETH. I am so glad I held on.
I am so looking forward to the continued development of 10KTF as they have formed a deep partnership with Yuga while honing in on some of the best cliff hanging material in the NFT space. Their Tweet and videos that go along are captivating. The story that they tell through their ever changing website and missions remind me how much fun can be in this space. I fully expect 10KTF to be the official wearables partner of the Otherside and I am here for it.
The amount of people whom I used to look up to in this space and have since lost complete respect for over this whole cc0 thing is ridiculous. It’s not that I have lost respect with them because I’m on the side of cc0 and they’re full commercial rights and licenses. Each has their own place and we can agree to disagree if anyone thinks Commercial Rights are web3.
I’ve lost respect because these individuals are seen as thought leaders and influencers within this space and so many look up to them for advice, and information. Yet these people on the front lines, delivering this information, have zero fucking understanding of what they are talking about and yet sound like ‘experts’ and even news articles will quote and share their information..
Remember when Azuki sent their Bobu NFT into space.. Yeah, that’s not how ledgers work. No one has sent any crypto or nfts into space… Great marketing from thought leaders in this space with misinformed conceptions on how ledgers work and lacking understanding of what these devices do..
Well I’m here to tell you, that just like that situation, once again very few people were talking about the truth about the Kevin Rose Moonbird’s situation.. Moonbirds never took ANYTHING away from their holders, because their holders never had commercial rights in the first place
Anyways.. Mass adoption didn’t come until iphones in classroom’s were able to be used to shop on Amazon. The power of this technology and web3, of trustless systems and decentralized protocols, proof of stake, and even proof of person without KYC.. Mass adoption isn’t the masses understanding or caring about how these things work or valuing these things over the current broken systems of web2..
People are quick to jump on spaces say WAGMI, talk about how web3 is going to change the world before they run for cover and ask for lawyers and restrictions instead of accountability for their mistakes and actions. And I get it, if decentralized is going to have any chance of being adopted it needs easier UX and everyone needs to come through a centralized system first. Exit through the gift shop.
