My first post

This is the first of many writings I intend doing. It came to my mind what I should write about: basics of blockchain; bitcoin's value for people; how the blockchain ecosystem works; tendencies of the market… Which one should I choose?

Well, since some of you might be a little bit saturated on these topics or even think some of them are too advanced, I decided to talk about

  • Blockchain's current stage of adoption and what to expect for the future
  • What is this blog all about

Blockchain's stage and what is about to come

Blockchain is not only fancy NFTs for status and cryptocurrencies speculations. For enterprises, blockchain enables companies to have more secure and authentic transactions. For people like you and me, blockchain makes digital content remains as most authentic and secure as possible, while allowing people maintain privacy on the ecosystem .

In a world in which people have their personal goods blocked by governments, hacked by hackers or stolen by thieves, having a technology that allows personal digital goods to be stored as safe as possible is revolutionary. If you think your fiat currency is not properly taken care by your government or that your personal information is not properly used by social media or other digital companies, then blockchain can solve this for you. This is creating what people call WEB 3.0, which is a global web environment in which people own their own digital goods that are connected to a blockchain, meaning that there are no intermediates in between you and your digital goods.

All this sounds awesome, right? So why don’t you hear about it everyday on mainstream news? My opinion: Blockchain adoption is in the “IBM phase” of computers. “Apple revolution” will still come. At the moment, the main audience of WEB 3.0 ecosystem are nerds (yes, you can say I am one 🤓) early adopters. I see it that way due to the layouts that WEB 3.0 brands use and by the NFTs that are sold in the market, in which I don't really think they would be appreciated by the mainstream public. Also, it is still scarce the content available of how to use WEB 3.0 and many of these content are difficult to understand, due to advanced vocabulary that makes it difficult for beginners to understand.

What is this blog all about

There are people on different stages of learning about WEB3.0. Based on my experience, I listed below what these are stages and what people are experiencing in each of them. Can you identify where you are now?

We all start as a noob. We join blockchain universe by listening someone talking about some blockchain application or checking some news about it on the internet. We don't really understand about it, but depending on our current stage of life and the strength of what we heard/saw, we start studying what it is and why it is so beneficial. Here we have the problem I've commented earlier: a lot of content that is being created at the moment about blockchain is too technical for beginners.

When we first start studying about blockchain, application studies usually come first. Checking what tendencies are being developed and the market size growth generates more interest and enthusiasm as we ponder wether it is worthy or not to spend time studying the topic. Below I rapidly listed some new markets that were developed due to blockchain's technology:

  • Crypto native games - Still on the very beginning phase, these are games with blockchain capabilities
  • Decentralized Autonomous Organization - Companies without hierarchical weight
  • Digital Products (NFTs) - Digital contents sold as unique products
  • Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
    • DEX – Decentralized Exchange
    • Crypto Credit
    • Crypto Currency

With the motivation turned on, we start understanding the basics. Some people consider essential learning about the technical process behind the technology, trying to understand how it works, but others only focus on the applications. The essential here is that people study what are the concepts behind the technology, how it works in practice and how the technology is being applied to different use cases.

As an example I could make a parallel with learning about the wheel:

  1. Understanding its properties. Example: Wheels are easy to move along the ground.
  2. Considering the benefits of wheel's properties, how is the wheel being used? Example: Cars.
  3. How is it being applied? Example: Scooters, wheel bags.

In the case of blockchain, we have three main properties:

  • An encrypted digital ledger (a book or other collection of financial accounts of a particular type)

    with a

  • Decentralized network

    and a

  • A structure that makes future transactions depend on past transactions values.

When we finish understanding the basics we question ourselves: is it worthy putting effort to become a specialist on the technology? Becoming a blockchain entrepreneur can be focused on the technical part or on the application part. On this stage we consolidate our knowledge acquired on past studies by getting into the wild and exploring the whole ecosystem that is being provided by the global market. Once we do this, we naturally become able to move on to our own adventures: creating new solutions and business models; teaching other people; investing in blockchain assets more safely; etc.

Becoming a blockchain entrepreneur will be essential if you want to keep up with blockchain revolution. This is why through this blog I intend to create content about the basics of WEB 3.0. Besides helping you to understand the new era of the internet and become an entrepreneur, I want to consolidate my personal knowledge through this MIRROR adventure.

To deep dive into the blockchain world with simple explanations and instructions, stay tuned for future content!

Who am I

My name is João Pedro and my address on Ethereum is hashirama256.eth, which combines my enthusiasm with blockchain (encryption methods: Hash + Sha-256) with my liking for animes (Naruto's first hokage: Hashirama).
