The Story of a Moe-style Illustrator, Hina Yuzuki, Planning an NFT Exhibition of Cute Girls' Art

Hello everyone, nice to meet you. My name is Yuzuki Hina, a moe-style illustrator and the head of the NEW DROPS! management team. Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I've been drawing illustrations for about 10 years and I love drawing cute girls. I am active in the doujin circle "Nekorop" and have done commercial work since 2016, including original artwork for bishoujo games, illustrations for bishoujo-style mobile games, magazine illustrations, and product illustrations.

After that, I had a period of leisurely activity and some breaks. If you'd like to know more about that, please check out this link to my tweet:

【Sudden long personal story】

I slowly resumed my activities around 2020, wanting to take on various challenges and started accepting new work when the coronavirus pandemic began. I was no longer able to participate in Comiket, and my doujin circle activities were also severely limited.

**
**

During that time, I learned about NFTs in the summer of 2021. I have always been very curious about new things. Thinking of it as a chance to start something new and connect with people from overseas, I started working with NFTs in November 2021. I researched and started on my own, not because someone invited me to do it.

Because I had my main artwork activities, my NFT offerings were mainly existing works, but I was very excited about this new world! I have always wanted people from overseas to see my artwork. Although I can't speak English at all, for personal reasons, I have been interacting with an Australian person living in Australia for about six years. Because of this, I've always wanted to connect with more people from overseas.

In addition, when I participated in a Taiwanese doujin event in 2016, I met a fan from overseas who knew about the game I had worked on as an original illustrator. They told me they loved the character, and they still support my artwork to this day. I wanted to connect with people around the world through my artwork because of experiences like this.

I attended a middle and high school that focused on English and had a rich study abroad program, so I've always had a longing for overseas experiences. However, despite attending such a school, my English grades were not great, and I struggled to learn conversational English. Even now, when I travel abroad, I can only stay at hotels with Japanese-speaking staff. That's how bad I am at speaking and understanding English!

So, I would be absolutely delighted if I could communicate with people through my artwork!

Returning to the topic of NFTs,

In November 2021, my first work exhibited on Foundation was auctioned off to an overseas collector Robek-san, which made me feel very positive about the world of NFTs.

There are many scams in the NFT world, and the fate of your future NFT activities can be determined by the first people you meet. I didn't know anything and was just liking Fao-san's tweets, which seemed educational, but thanks to them reaching out to me, I was able to learn how to get started with NFTs. I was also able to participate in Shibuya's digital signage.

**

I don't think I would have had the experience of seeing my artwork displayed on a large screen at Shibuya's Scramble Crossing if I hadn't been involved with NFTs!

I realize that the people you meet early on are very important.

In April 2022, I thought it would be fun to hold an NFT real exhibition featuring only cute girl illustrations...? At that time, there were not many NFT exhibitions in Japan.

Although I am a single moe-style illustrator, I wanted to connect with people overseas, with the world, and create something with other creators since I had the chance to learn about NFTs.

There were real exhibitions with various styles and genres mixed together, but at that time, there was no real exhibition of NFT works featuring only cute girl illustrations as the main theme, with high-quality creators and no scammers or merchants.

I came up with the idea of holding an event where cute girl illustrations are displayed at an NFT exhibition, using the metaverse to allow people from overseas and far away to participate, and creators and fans can interact at the venue. How wonderful would that be!

Also, I had always longed for exhibitions, but since I never had the chance to be invited, I thought I would plan and hold one myself!

Initially, I wanted to hold it in October 2022, but I hit a wall.

The creator who was going to co-host with me in the beginning ended up parting ways due to differences in management ideas and the level of passion for the event.

During that time, my favorite m1nm1n team, who I had asked to participate as creators in the exhibition, agreed to help plan and manage the event as co-hosts. My wish to collaborate with the m1nm1n team, which I had mentioned in a previous NFT interview, came true, and they became my best partners.

In addition, GASHO's huniman-san, who was a holder of my work, also agreed to help with the event management. I am very grateful to Funiman for all the advice I received.

The NFT world can seem suspicious, profit-driven, and full of scams to those who aren't involved in NFT activities. As mentioned earlier, the direction of your NFT journey can be determined by the people you meet early on.

We hope that our NEW DROPS! event will help provide a safe and supportive environment for those just starting out.

Also, I wanted to create an event that not only NFT enthusiasts but also fans of the creators could participate in.

"I want to be surrounded by cute art. I want to connect with the world. I want to host an event for creators, by creators, not focused on profit. I want to make it an event that even those who don't know about NFTs can participate in."

Thanks to m1nm1n-san, futaba-san, m4ta2bi-san from the m1nm1n team, and huniman-san from GASHO 2.0 for supporting and cooperating with my idea, we've been able to continue preparing together and will finally hold the event next month!

**
**

In addition, the talented creators who have not yet gained high popularity in the NFT world have listened to my invitation and agreed to participate, and the international creators who have joined thanks to the deep connections of the m1nm1n team make up an amazing lineup.

**
**

I'm also very happy that our sponsors have appreciated our team's event, which is for creators by creators.

**
**

As an event organized by creators, we might not be able to do things as flashy as a company. It's also our first time organizing an event, so there might be areas where we lack strength. However, we want to work hard to create an enjoyable experience for people who purely love creators' illustrations, NFT artwork, and both.

We have also created a metaverse space, allowing people from overseas and faraway places to participate. We would love for you to join us on the day of the event in Cluster's metaverse event!
