Nowadays, social networks are growing in users but the experience does not increase in the same way, it is more, it decreases in some ways.
In this post we will not go into details about the problems in current social networks since I addressed it in a previous article
However, many will be aware that Lens came to solve all these problems. Therefore, in this article I am going to break down how the Lens Protocol ecosystem is made up based on its actors, in order to understand the protocol in depth.
The network is composed of three main pillars:
Creators
Curators
Consumers
These roles are key when it comes to shaping the interactions between users and the flow of content that is posted.
How do these roles affect each other exactly? we will see next!
Creators could be considered the most obvious entity in this flow, without them there would be no content on the platform.
They are in charge of giving life to the ecosystem through posts. These can range from articles and videos, to music and memes.
By uploading content, you are automatically a creator, you just have to let your imagination fly and share your thoughts with the community.
The answer is complex but we will focus on the ease of monetizing our content. Thanks to the modules of followers and the 'collects', we can allow our audience (consumers) to add value to our art. From giving a small tip to buying a work of art or even accessing a private information channel. The possibilities are endless!
To complement and exploit the full potential of these tools, the participation of other entities is necessary.
These actors are in charge of bringing the creators' content to a larger audience by sharing it on their profiles.
Not only this, but by sharing the content there is also a filtering effect (healing) of the really valuable posts. Obviously filtering is subjective to each niche.
In this way, a user, in addition to following her favorite creators, can also follow the curators who share the best content.
A short example:
“As a user who loves good music, I am going to follow @Xinobi.lens since I love its music. However, I will also follow @christina.lens as she often mirrors and shares good quality posts from musicians, which catch my attention!”
Exclusive accounts can be created on various topics where content from creators is shared. In this way, creators benefit, by having their content shared, and consumers, by obtaining filters and the possibility of discovering new creators.
Last actor and supporter of the ecosystem, consumers. They are the users who read the articles, watch the videos, listen to the music, buy the works of art and like the memes of the creators.
Basically they give value to everything that is created within the Lens protocol. They help creators and curators monetize their content. Without them, the effort and time invested would be in vain.
Consumers will also be guiding, based on their actions, what content is better received, giving creators feedback on what the main interests and tastes of the community are.
ALL OF THEM!
The best thing about this ecosystem is that we can all be creators, curators and consumers!
By posting a photo of your trip, you are a creator. While you wait for the publication to be uploaded, you scroll through the feed and you come across a meme that makes you laugh, you mirror it and at the same time you notice that there are only 10 copies of it, so you collect it for 0.5 $MATIC.
Congratulations! You just fulfilled all 3 roles in 1 minute.
The lens ecosystem is super new and has a lot of innovations, so understanding its architecture is key. Although its functionalities can be a bit complex, at the end of the day, its logic works similar to any other social network.
I hope that these types of articles help and motivate you to use the platform. We are all part of this community.
What are you waiting for to, create, curate and consume?
