Beyond ETHDenver🪐

I decided to start with a poem to finish my ETH Denver Part 1, “ A Road Not Taken” Robert Frost Journey…

W3b Matrix 🔐

How has it already been 8 months at Figment? 🤔💭
Have I entered the matrix and lost track of where the time went? 💻⌛️

I’ve noticed time moves differently in web3, with every day different than the last ⏰ Learning new protocols and finding solutions to problems from my FinTech past 🔐

ETHDenver began a new chapter in my web3 career 📖📚
It was an epic transition into really learning web3 without fear 🙅🏻‍♀️👀

At HER DAO, I met innovators and new web3 frens 🤝♥️
Joining telegram group chats, talking NFTs and new crypto token trends 📲 🖼 📈

After 7 years in FinTech, I know I have entered a journey into the unknown 🧭 🗺 Butterflies of excitement for the movement of building better together -- not alone ⛓

Web3 Profile Tips 📝

In the last article, I mentioned the importance of building your basic web3 profile to interact with the community, starting with a Metamask wallet, ENS Domain, Twitter, and Telegram tricks, but that is only the beginning. Welcome to our second hollycopter.eth & how to w3b.

Telegram Networking Tricks 💡📸

To truly master the Telegram (TG) networking game - it is vital to be organized with your TG interactions ( I learned the hard way after NFT NYC ). My process is as follows:

  1. Before exchanging info, take a quick picture (*remember some might prefer no pics if they are anon)
  2. Add Twitter for personal and project(s) to the message thread
  3. Exchange names & or alias to solidify new web3 fren and contact

I also recommend joining the Telegram groups for the events you are attending. Some conferences have year-long groups constantly dropping Alpha from new project white lists, grant programs, and VIP events. For example, I know the Dcentral conferences and all Solana Hacker houses have group telegram and city chats that are always in session.

Beyond Metamask 🦊

While a Metamask wallet is an essential entry point into web3 and integrate with several blockchains, it does not work on all chains(yet). Translating Metamask benefits into "simple web2 speak" could be relating a Metamask wallet to an Amex card. It is a great product but not accepted everywhere. I am still exploring the world of crypto wallets, but here is a quick overview of my journey thus far…

Metamask: I have my Metamask wallet connected to Steakwallet, where I am staking The Graph ($GRT) and $ETH via Lido. In addition, my ENS domain hollycopter.eth, mirror blog, and Figment Warrior polygon NFT

Valora: I am a huge Celo fan, and colleague @CalicoKittencat taught me crypto 101 via Celo's native wallet Valora and liquidity pools.

Solflare: This was the first Solana wallet I used when I learned how to stake $SOL with my Figmate Nathan's help via Figment as a Delegator

Phantom: Lately, I have been spending a lot of time exploring the Solana ecosystem via my Phantom wallet, starting with minting NFTs on Holaplex and Burnt Finance. Swapping $SOL on a DEX FOR $ATLAS to buy a spaceship NFT for Star Atlas.

At the Solana Community Hacker House - I decided to create an abstract painting to mint as an NFT

ETHDenver’s Women in web3

ETHDenver was different than most tech conferences I have attended over the last 10 years from FinTech to web3 - because of H.E.R DAO. HER DAO hosted a hacker house full of workshops and perks such as vegan food and massages. In addition to the content and spa treatment, they provided 150 women with a paid travel scholarship to attend the conference! It was refreshing to meet so many other females in web3 - and learn about their projects. I am still in awe of how kind some of my first experiences were… I felt that I was immediately welcomed by Doris from Dippii, Yip from Unit Network, H.E.R DAO founder Tracy Onallee and more!

Reflecting on ETHDenver, I am grateful I joined the early hackathon events at ART Hotel and different hacker houses. I spent a lot of my time with the HER DAO community from our Figment workshops to collaborating on a Cryptogals bowling event to close out the ETHDenver festivities.

Cryptogals Bowling Night

What a wonderful women in web3 event! ♥️👀
What a wonderful women in web3 event! ♥️👀

Planning a side event for ETHDenver was tricky, but luckily, I had Lauren from Ceramic as my planning partner. This was our first event working together and look forward to many more. I am not sure people realize the details that go into planning events; it is not just a party; it is an art. @web3Lauren and I worked together to sort through availability based on venues and competing parties to seek the perfect location and date. We wanted to create a fun and memorable event for all the women in web3 at ETHDenver, so we decided on a themed game night at Denver's Punch Bowl Social

Our Cryptogal's bowling night was a huge web3 win with over 300 attendees!! It was a group collaboration between Figment DataHubCeramic NetworkHER DAO, SheFi, and Boysclub. It was a game-filled night with an open bar, branded signature cocktails, and appetizers. While all the beverages were delicious… my favorite obvi was the "Fig MINT Mojito". 🍹

To conclude, I have included a mini video to provide some of my favorite moments with new web3 frens. Until next time where we explore my web3 journey and NFTs at SXSW, Hollycopter over and out. 🚁✍️👋
