Homies Podcast Thoughts: Crypto Sapiens x Farcaster
February 4th, 2023

I spend time interacting, contributing, and having a good time in the Crypto Sapiens Community.  One of my favorite things to do is to stumble around web3 apps and try not to get lost.

I’ve been wandering around the web3 ecosystem since 2021, trying to figure things out.  I’ve been contributing to crypto sapiens since the spring of 2022, and it’s been a pretty inspirational journey. It's fun to learn about the people who make this ecosystem as exciting as it can be.

I wanted to take some time to share my thoughts on one of the latest episodes of Crypto Sapiens, where the host, Humpty Calderon, sits down with web3 creators, builders, and influencers, to discuss everything from identity, to creativity, and beyond.

I had some time to listen to the latest Crypto Sapiens Episode, where Humpty has the chance to chat with Daniel Romero, co-founder of Farcaster.  Farcaster is a web3 application that is quite similar to Twitter.

Imagine if you had the chance to cut through the noise of Crypto Twitter (are your Twitter DMs full of blatant attempts to steal your seed phrase? Mine too), check out NFTs of your favorite web3 influencers, while having a touch of RSS feeder joy, on your favorite I-device.  That's Farcaster in a nutshell.

Farcaster is neat. It’s a web3 platform that, while similar to Twitter at face value, gives you quite a bit more from the standpoint of owning, curating, and interacting with your data. I had the chance to hop in and experience the application (thanks for helping me figure out how to do that, Humpty!) a few months ago.

I had fun listening to this episode. What was most important from taking part in this podcast experience was my ability to connect with the host, Humpty, and the Guest, Daniel Romero, through this episode.

The episode with Daniel and Humpty discusses Daniel’s start in web3, working with companies including Coinbase, building web3 RSS plus, and what has now become the application that we see today.

What inspired me the most about this episode comes from a few different avenues.  I saw a true interest in caring about people; a true interest in web3 citizens' ownership of their identity, their data as well as their following born from the internet. But with our ever-changing individuality, we should be allowed to keep our audience.  It looks like that is something Farcaster is closer to achieving.
