At first glance, this bold move may seem unfair, but there's much more to the story.

Don’t think of Elan Tokens as the next Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for that matter. You won’t be able to use it to purchase goods from a store(...yet) and it’s not even considered a security. So what’s the big deal?

Energy. That’s the big deal. We’re here to power the world with affordable, clean energy through energy transactions. But those energy transactions are only possible with our proprietary blockchain and tokens. Elan Tokens serve as the bridge between our technology and the people. A way to narrow the gap between the affluent Western World and everyone else.

But still, why would we give any of it away for free? And why not to everyone? It has everything to do with our “why”.

Our “Why” Behind Elan

It’s not about the haves and have-nots - and it never will be. In fact, we’re committed to donating a percentage of our profits to help people who don’t have access to electricity or simply can’t afford it. Why? Because that’s the whole purpose behind everything we do. 

Electrifying the world doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t happen without sacrifice. It takes perseverance and going against the grain. It takes colouring outside the lines and thinking outside the box.

It also takes perfection. Our total cap is set at one billion. We could release all one billion tokens tomorrow, but we wouldn’t be doing anyone any favours. We’d like to think our blockchain is ready right now, but that’s not a risk we’re willing to take. We’re not willing to say ‘good enough’ and cross our fingers hoping for the best. That’s not how we do things at Elan.

So we came up with a plan to ensure that when we do release all of our tokens, everything falls into place like the last piece of a puzzle.

The Reason Behind This Decision

We can thank Yuga Labs, the creators of the BAYC and MAYC for inspiring our decision to give away a portion of our tokens. When they gave everyone in the Bored Ape community a mutant serum, APE Tokens and Otherside Lands, they not only rewarded the people who believed in them, but they also forged a tighter bond within their community. As Apes ourselves, we were rewarded as well, allowing us to reinvest into Elan and clean energy. Now it’s our turn to give back to the community that we’ve been proud to be a part of since the beginning. Apes together strong.

Not only are we giving back to this community, but we’re putting ourselves out there for the world to see. Elan can’t electrify the world alone. We have to be known. We need the attention of like-minded, influential people who are willing to stand by our side. And we knew exactly who to turn to.

Another factor in our decision was the need to research the capabilities of our blockchain in a real world application. The idea is when this community receives their free tokens, some people will choose to swap the tokens on DEXs like Uniswap. This results in activity, creating volume that is necessary for us to evaluate and test the functionality of our blockchain ecosystem. Without this, we wouldn’t be able to ensure the proper deliverability of our technology.

Now let's imagine for a moment that we decided to release 50 million tokens to the public. Anybody could jump on our website and claim their share. But it’s important to remember that the number of BAYC and MAYC Holders is quite low compared to the general population. So, if we released our tokens to the general public, each person would only get a very small fraction of one token. For the majority of people, it would hardly be worth it to swap it for anything, meaning 50 million tokens would go largely untouched.

With so much hanging in the balance, we need to be certain that everything we do is efficient and purposeful. We don't take this decision lightly, but at the end of the day, we know it’s the only way.  

How Many Tokens Will BAYC and MAYC Holders Receive?

Of the 50 million tokens being released, half will go to BAYC Holders and the other half will go to MAYC Holders. 

• BAYC Holders will receive 2,500 tokens per NFT.
• MAYC Holders will receive 1,287.1338 tokens per NFT.

Why Does Trading Volume Matter?

The idea behind giving away 50 million tokens is to generate a great deal of activity on a large number of decentralized exchanges. This high volume translates to greater liquidity and stability, so the value is less affected by a single trade. Additionally, high volume means that the token can be traded more easily, thus reducing transaction times & equalizing liquidity pools.

On the other hand, low volume leads to low liquidity and more volatility, making our tokens more susceptible to market manipulation and slow transaction times.

In order to electrify the world, we need a stable token that allows for seamless energy transactions. When people need electricity, they need it right now. There’s no room for slow energy transactions. There’s no room for waiting. But that takes volume. And volume comes from tight-knit communities, communities like the ones we’re part of. It’s a hard truth, but this is essential for the future of Elan and the future of energy.

A Necessary Decision

Giving away 50 million Elan Tokens was a decision that had to be made. Although necessary, it wasn’t easy knowing that the true reason behind it would be clouded by the appearance of unfairness. While it may appear unfair at first, when you realize what we’re fighting for, you’ll see it’s the only way forward. The only way towards our mission of fair energy distribution. The only way towards a future without darkness, without blackouts, and without pollution caused by energy production. 

Today, we’re giving back to the BAYC and MAYC community because it brings us one step closer to our mission of fair energy distribution. When we talk about electrifying the world, we’re talking about providing low-cost, grid-independent electricity to everyone, but especially to the people who need it the most. 

Imagine a world where clean energy is the standard, not the outlier. Imagine a world of clean air, unpolluted by the toxic burning of fossil fuels. Imagine a world where renewable energy is accessible even in remote areas that can’t rely on solar, wind, or hydropower. That’s the world we’ve envisioned and fought for. That’s the world we want. That’s the future we all need.

Together, we can bring clean energy to the people. Together, we can heal our devastated planet before it’s too late.
