Proposal for Nouns DAO from Kiriko

Proposal Submission by Kiriko

Kiriko has submitted a proposal to the Nouns DAO requesting sponsorship. We have been active in the Nouns DAO as Nouns holders for over a year and are confident that this proposal will contribute significantly to the proliferation of Nouns DAO and Web3.

For details on the proposal, please refer to the URL below.

※We used data before #541, so the results might be different from the latest analysis.

Proliferation of Nouns DAO

Through our one-year involvement with Nouns DAO, we have learned a great deal about the DAO. We believe that our activities will continue to grow. However, the current activities within Nouns DAO primarily focus on internal events and development, with insufficient efforts to expand Nouns to external audiences. While there are various methods for external projects, such as social media outreach, art, and video production, we feel that creating products used by many users is the most impactful approach.

Internal tools and events are important, but to expand the reach of Nouns DAO, it is essential to create services and products that can be used by people who are entirely unfamiliar with Nouns DAO.

The community is actively working on this challenge, but I believe that there is still room for improvement. In this article, I present the basis and analysis results supporting this claim.

Analysis of Tech Proposals in Nouns DAO

Based on the data kindly provided by Nouns DAO community members, we analyzed the existing proposals.

our analysis based on the material

Our analysis of Nouns DAO proposals revealed the following:

  • Total proposals: 541

  • Total approved proposals: 338

  • Total spent: $72,214,265

  • Tech proposals: 99

  • Total approved tech proposals: 66

  • Total spent for tech proposals: $14,985,650

Tech proposals include a variety of projects such as governance tools for the community, token issuance, and data analysis platforms. We categorized the target users of these tech proposals into the following four groups:

  • Cores: Individuals who already own Nouns NFTs

  • Internals: Individuals who do not own NFTs but are part of the community

  • Externals: Individuals who are aware of Nouns NFTs but are not part of the community

  • Unawares: Individuals who are not aware of Nouns NFTs

Among these, the products targeting the "Unawares" group are as follows:

  • Total proposals to build products for Unawares: 18

  • Approved proposals to build products for Unawares: 11

  • Total spent: $1,798,900

  • Percentage spent for products for Unawares: 2.49%

Thus, only about 2.5% of the budget used in the DAO so far has been allocated to the development of products for external audiences.

From Internal to External

Projects naturally follow a certain order, and it is true that Nouns DAO is gradually shifting from creating inward-facing products and services to more outward-facing ones. In fact, in the most recent 100 proposals, the amount of money allocated for external projects has been increasing.

Recent 100 proposals:

  • Total approved proposals: 68

  • Total spent: $10,950,314

  • Tech proposals: 22

  • Total approved tech proposals: 13

  • Total spent for tech proposals: $3,207,350

  • Total proposals to build products for Unawares: 5

  • Approved proposals to build products for Unawares: 5

  • Total spent: $1,253,900

  • Percentage spent for products for Unawares: 11.45%

It is a very positive trend that 11% of the total amount, and roughly half of the BUIDL proposals, are being used for external products. However, except for the implementation of the farcaster client, all five recently funded proposals are projects that have previously received funding from Nouns DAO, indicating that the number of new projects is not yet increasing.

Conclusion

We need to increase the number of projects that will attract external audiences to Nouns DAO. By becoming a global Public Good Protocol, Kiriko aims to be one of the projects contributing to Nouns DAO.
