A Metaverse room at home?

The Metaverse is negatively connoted.

I mean, it inspires fear and uncertainty to most of the people outside of the industry.

And sci-fi movies don’t help.

Basically, the movie « surrogates » - starring Bruce Willis - sums up really well what the collective unconscious feels about METAVERSE.

People being unhealthy and lonely because their life is no more than controlling their avatar in their gloomy room.

Nothing sexy with this vision of our society.

In my opinion, this cognitive bias comes from the misunderstanding of the genuine goal of this technology.

It’s not about making the world more virtual but making the virtual part of our world more comfortable and efficient.

Because, let be coherent, we already spend most of our time on virtual platforms.

(Writing this and just received an alert of me exceeding my screen time. Pretty good reminder.)

Social networks, smartphones and laptops are already immersing ourselves in some kind of a connected universe built on top of our physical world.

So, a universe beyond the actual one, which is the exact definition of a Meta - Verse.

But even if it has been a huge breakthrough in the human history, this beta version of the virtual world is still very frustrating.

Not secured, really centralized, requires permission, full of friction and. Not. Immersive. At. All.

Working from home during covid lockdowns highlighted this so accurately.

Most of us didn’t have the right set-up to work efficiently, and even if you luckily had it, current technology failed to reproduced the warm feeling of human presence.

Depression tripled during 2020 covid peak in the US.

Metaverse is more than a buzzword.

And It is way more than an upgrade of the incomplete online and virtual experience we are living nowadays.

It’s a new paradigm. At its very early stage.

That’s why current metaverses aren’t yet really immersive.

Actually, they just look like video games that include property thanks to NFTs. (Cc Sorare)

But web3 is literally a grey matter black hole.

At the moment, this is the most attractive industry which will lead to explosive breakthroughs in the following months - years.

And Mark Zuckerberg’s will to have the stranghold on it absolutely displays it.

Soon, Metaverse will be synonym of immersive experiences which ease your everyday life.

This is the genuine and deep goal of this technology: make our lives easier.

Sooner as we think, we will all have a Metaverse room at home the same way it feels normal to bathroom in developed countries.

This Metaverse room will allow us to work and play in the most optimal way: more immersion, property and less waste of time.
