NFTS IN INDUSTRIES #1 Streaming music platform

On March 25th, Damso, a famous Belgium rapper, released his concert tickets, and it was sold out instantly.Twelve minutes later, @jimmyjeans4412 incurred the wrath of Damso OG fans by saying on Twitter that he was selling 27 tickets with a significant premium. (Here’s the tweet for my french readers)

This guy is what we call a flipper.

Flippers’ goal is to snipe items - i.e., be quick to buy them - and resell them asap at a higher price.

Flippers are ruining the buying experience of many industries - Fashion, NFTs, Music - and those industry insiders have been trying to get rid of them.

OG Fans should not pay a premium to a greedy guy to see their favorite artist.

Instead, I sincerely think their loyalty and devotion should be rewarded with a smoother buying experience.

red carpet UX should be the bare minimum for them: do not forget that artists’ success comes from their fan dedication.

In my view, streaming platforms could solve this problem in the music industry thanks to NFTs.

Imagine Deezer sending you an NFT after listening to your favorite artist on a loop for months.

It would certify your account as a XXX OG fan (a natural social flex) and grant you some rights and benefits like specific distribution channels for concert tickets or merchandise.

Thus, real fans could easily buy their tickets and live a privileged moment at the artist show. Say goodbye to the stress and rush before any releases. Smooth UX only.

Or they can resell it and extract financial value from their passion. At least, flippers will be honest people who would have earned this right from their love and attachment to the artist.
No more people getting wealthier from bots and bad energy.

This mechanism would realign interests between music industry actors.

With this NFT, fans are incentivized to do a thing they already love doing - listening to their fav artist - which increases streams and so on, Artists and Platforms’ revenues.

It creates a virtuous flywheel.

This system would also lead streaming platforms to achieve one of their profound goal: to become social apps.

I mean, it’s the only app we spend hours on, and we’re not ashamed of it.

Being certified as an XXX OG fan is a real flex because it’s one of the most significant social indicators.

Camus’ main character in the Fall understands that his conversation partner is one of his kind because he smiles “at that use of the subjunctive.” In the same way, it’s common that we feel someone just based on his musical taste.

This NFT could be a tangible marker allowing people to chat and match directly on the streaming platform app, making those apps way more dynamic and interactive.

They all offer the same service, unlimited music for less than 10$.

Right now, they would do everything to distinguish themselves from the other.

Blockchain is the key.

Will a streaming platform disrupt Tinder? Instagram?
