what are lawl gobblers?

1 lawl gobbler a day, forever, as long as i don't forget, or not want to do it anymore.

“you can state a roadmap that says where you will go, but you can also plant seeds and see where they grow” - sartoshi

put simply, lawl gobblers are seeds going somewhere. they are my interpretation of a well-known piece of art, either from history or from the nft space. they’re parodies.

put complexly, when i first joined the crypto/nft space i had just come to accept that the onion would never hire me. i did the whole chicago comedy schtick, pay to play pretend with other troubled twenty-somethings high off of the residual copium from some compliment someone said in passing sometime in middle school. mfers resonate with me and they make for the perfect ‘everyman’ character for a semi-chronological and exhaustive parody collection.

pre-pandemic i heard about non-fungible tokens through justin roiland’s instagram story or something like that, i think. it could have definitely been something else. i was writing two to three onion-style articles a day at the time, publishing them to two to three different shitty onion copycat sites i had made myself. this was how i had spent the better part of a two years. the pandemic hit and being that i was set to spend a significant amount of time inside i dove into this strange thing justin roiland was posting about on his instagram story… nfts.

a hero image accompanied all of the shitty blog posts mentioned above. those hero images became the first nfts i ever minted. tik tok shakespeare to be exact, in a collection called thought boxes.

in short, thought boxes were pieces of art depicting famous people from history in humorous and abstract ways.

in long, thought boxes were my way of discovering the world of digital art, digital collectibles, dumb doggy coins, and the first time i gained a comprehensive masterclass in extraordinary popular delusions and the madness of crowds documented in real-time, on the etherum blockchain.

one full crypto cycle later, i found myself inspired by a new idea when justin roiland launched his new project with paradigm, artgobblers.

lawl gobblers are the unintentional natural progression of thought boxes. there are so many similarities because this is the type of parody, satirical, spoofy art i am naturally drawn to creating.

an exhaustive crypto native parody created on a crypto native platform, that’s lawl gobblers. standalone, parody can succeed - but in the same way, beeple’s art is art and documentation, lawl gobblers is parody of art and a documentation of art worth parodying.

do a stupid thing for long enough and that stupid thing will make smart people question themselves. so, appreciate lawl gobblers now or appreciate lawl gobblers later. i plan on being stupid for quite a while.

1 lawl gobbler a day, forever, as long as i don't forget, or lose power, or not feel like it, or am at a family gathering and my uncle hands me a beer and wants to reminisce just as i open my laptop to draw, or a bored ape loses my seed phrase, and of course, if i don’t want to do it anymore.

p.s.

no affiliation with art gobblers, but if justin roiland wants to slide in my dms that would obviously be fine.

all lawl gobbler sales will start at 69.69 or 6.9 or 0.69 Tezos with 6.9% royalties. if you can find a way around paying royalties, go for it, i’m making another lawl gobbler tomorrow… unless i forget, or don’t want to.
