Introduction

Linea is taking a bold step in the web3 space by introducing the Linea Gas Pass at the Linea Entertainment Festival. This unique initiative leverages the capabilities of the ERC-6551 standard, turning NFTs into functional web3 wallets, enhancing the gaming experience on the Layer 2 (L2) network.

Understanding ERC-6551:

• ERC-6551: An Ethereum Improvement Proposal designed to allow Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to act as wallets on their own.

• NFT as a Wallet: This groundbreaking standard ensures that any NFT, regardless of when it was minted or which collection it belongs to, has the capability to:

  • Hold Assets: Beyond just representing a piece of art or a collectible, the NFT can directly custody other tokens, be it fungible or non-fungible.

  • Execute Transactions: Acting as self-contained smart contracts, these NFTs can carry out transactions on the Ethereum network, including sidechains and layer 2 solutions such as Linea

  • Control Over Contracts: These enhanced NFTs can be granted permissions to manage or control other contracts or accounts.

  • Cross-Chain Interactions: Token-bound accounts can potentially work across multiple blockchains, enhancing interoperability.

The Linea Gas Pass 101

Total Gas Pass is 100 and each of the 100 Gas Passes comes loaded with $500 in ETH to cover gas fees. Users can exchange it on the secondary market with no expire date!

Winners at Linea's Entertainment Festival will get the NFT-as-a-Wallet, or the Gas Pass.

To ensure success at the Linea Entertainment Festival:

1. Complete the pre-quest tasks given by Linea, Degame, and Particle Network.

2. Finish all task from a minimum of three communities in Group A.

3. Complete quests of any community from Group B, and reach the top 60 on a community leaderboard by the end of this phase.

For each entertainment project categorized in Group B, you have a chance to earn yourself a Linea Gas Pass and a Linea Discord role, if you rank in any of the community leaderboards of these projects during the Festival.

What is Linea’s Entertainment Festival?

Linea Entertainment Festival is an initiative to explore the potential of Layer 2 (L2) networks in online gaming, aiming to improve gameplay through real-time interactions.

The festival includes three sub-campaigns, partnering with major players like DeGame, Particle Network, P12, and MyShell.ai, running from September 5 to October 8, 2023.

Participants can win rewards such as the Linea Gas Pass, Apple Vision Pro, Nintendo Switch, and up to $20,000 in cash, among other prizes. The event focuses on engaging both web3 and web2 users, offering opportunities to engage in quests, create content, and learn about the L2 ecosystem.

The move of Linea to introduce Gas Pass aims to make ERC-6551 familiar within the community. They are also trying to catch up the latest technology in the development of Ethereum.
