November was a packed month for Livepeer. Coming off such a busy October – which included the launch of Livepeer Delta and its community-governed treasury, the inaugural meeting of the Livepeer Catalyst Hackers Group, a technical team tasked with documenting and shipping the Catalyst API, and a fruitful visit to the video developer conference Demuxed – you might think things would slow down a bit.
Instead, the Livepeer community kept its foot on the gas, released a new AI-powered set of docs, and watched with pride as StreamETH used the power of Livepeer to stream the biggest events at Devconnect Istanbul to the world. The project also laid out its plans for 2024 and beyond.
Those are the headlines. Now let's dig into them.
Powering StreamETh at Devconnect Istanbul
Livepeer was front-and-center at Devconnect Istanbul, a week-long roster of events independently organized by members of the Ethereum ecosystem that wrapped on November 19th.
Livepeer Network powered long-time partner StreamETH’s streaming video of the Devconnects hottest tickets, and made them available for playback at lightning speed.
But seeing the future of video in action wasn’t the only reason we loved Devconnect.
The team joined top web3 builders on November 15th at the Livepeer Devconnect Community Workshop to drill into the onchain video stack and to learn about all the video applications and experiences that lie on the horizon. Throughout the week, meanwhile, Livepeer’s fabulous product managers and engineers sat down with attendees in the Livepeer tent to explain why Livepeer is driving the future of video.
Laying out the Future of Livepeer
At the end of October, we published a blog called “Technical Opportunities for the Livepeer Ecosystem - 2023 and Beyond” that did two critical things.
First, it laid out the considerable progress Livepeer has made toward becoming the backbone for the future of video on the Internet. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it outlined the steps we must take next to keep moving toward this ambitious goal. These activities are aimed at:
Increasing the pace of innovation by making permissionless development on the Livepeer network easier for developers.
Adding media processing capabilities to the network, enabling node operators to earn and to play an expanding role in the video ecosystem through additional job types.
Further strengthening the network’s resilience through decentralization, achieving full trustless protocol status.
In November, these concepts were expanded upon in two future-focused pieces: “Livepeer’s Expansive Future” and “Livepeer and True Trustlessness”.

Spreading the DePIN Story
On November 11, Livepeer Co-Founder Doug Petkanics shared his thoughts in the International Business Times on how decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) can stop Big Tech from dominating the future of Artificial Intelligence.
The key is to give researchers and start-ups affordable access to the computing power they need to train and operate new AI models.
With AI set to transform everything from how we develop pharmaceuticals to how we create video, it is more important than ever to ensure that AI innovators are not shut out by the Googles and Amazons of the world.

Celebrating Grantee HERE & NOW’s Groundbreaking Live Film Production
Artists’ collective and Livepeer grant recipient HERE & NOW is just days away from making filmmaking history with the premiere of Echo, No Resonance, a movie acted, directed, produced, scored, edited, and screened in real time.
As you’ll read in our latest Builder Spotlight, Echo, No Resonance will air on December 8th – and then never again.
The movie, which chronicles the intersecting lives of a group of street dwellers in a single night, is the third live film production for the group and the first featuring live actors performing their roles outside on the streets.
Find out more here about this unique cinematic experience.
And if you have a disruptive video experiment you’d like to bring to life, the Livepeer Grant Program may be for you!
Showcasing Livepeer in a Friendly Faceoff with Akash
November finished with a friendly head-to-head between Livepeer and Akash organized by Coinage Media as part of its countdown to a community vote to anoint the Crypto Project of the Year.
A total of 16 top projects are in the running. Check out the tournament bracket and be ready to cast your vote!
Stay tuned…
Livepeer will be collaborating with others around the future of onchain media at Art Basel in Miami Beach, December 8th-10th. Can’t share the details yet, but circle December 8th and 9th in red on your calendar.
