April Overview, 2023
Hey whiskers 🐟 it’s been one full year of adventures in The Great Pond! Can you believe it? Here’s what we did in April:
Last Fish! - An All-In-One Competitive Card Game
Just because our Kickstarter has ended doesn’t mean the work on Last Fish! has 🤭This month, we’ve been shipping out copies of the game that have been claimed by holders of the Whiskers NFT. So far, about 50 have been sent out and are now (or will soon be) in the hands of our supporters!We gave claimers a couple options when choosing their game:

To get the game as fast as possible (but lacking all the stretch goal goodies from Kickstarter) or...

To wait until the Kickstarter copies ship, with all the stretch goals, around mid-July
If you’re one of the people who opted to get the game ASAP, make sure to let us know on our socials that it got to you safe and sound 😍And for those who want to play but missed the Kickstarter, we’ll have copies up for sale on our website this week! More on that below…
Additionally, international orders will be shipping soon, and we are currently setting up Kickstarter orders and upgrade orders.
We also sent out a Backerkit survey this month to get some feedback on our Kickstarter. The team is happy to see that about 80% of people who received the survey have completed it, and that number is still growing! The feedback we’ve received so far has been very positive. Everyone has been very supportive, and we loved reading through all your suggestions and comments. Here are some quotes:
“Cannot wait to play this game! Would love for future expansions or even campaign style game to be considered, loving the lore thus far!”
“I really enjoyed the community quests. It was really fun learning about The Great Pond and reading the books. The interactive map was really nice too.”
As if there wasn’t already enough to be excited about, our first expansion pack has been ordered from our manufacturers. Get hyped for new art, new cards, and new combo plays 🎉
The team has also just finalized the print & play version of the Last Fish! game this month. Although not as 😎cool 😎 as the physical card game, we wanted to make the game available to people who may be in places that aren’t as accessible for shipping. This version of the game will work just as the name suggests. You will be able to print all the cards necessary to play, directly from home, and conveniently try out the game without dealing with the hassle of shipping! Just note… there are a lot of cards.
P.S. If you’re in the Baltimore or Vancouver area, keep an eye out at your local board game cafés. You might just find a copy of Last Fish! 😉We’ve currently got a few copies floating around at a few gaming cafés and some Standard and Book of Pond Edition sets stocked at No Land Beyond in Baltimore!
Creative Projects
It’s been a wild few weeks with the launch of our Kickstarter, and we admit - we haven’t been putting out as many chapters as usual. However, we’re now back on our regularly scheduled programming for chapter releases! Here are the new chapters that we put out this month:
Bugabu has been working on creating an audiobook for our epilogue that will be released soon! We hope this can make our content more accessible for everyone.

Whiskers Webstore
Our game and other upcoming merchandise are about to be available online for purchase! Starting on May 8th, our webstore will be live. In addition to our flagship Last Fish! card game, you can expect Whiskers themed plushies, stickers, apparel, and more to appear on the webstore over time.

Team Updates - Specialists
In case you haven’t heard, we’re gearing up for a big marketing push throughout the rest of the year. Last month, we hired a business consultant with a lifetime of experience in brand growth and, in particular, online business development. As a bonus, she has plenty of experience with startups as well (read, businesses like us). Things have probably seemed slow, but it’s because there is a ton of behind-the-scenes work we have to do to set us up for success.
We’ve also hired a specialized company for a couple online retailer optimizations (more info on that in the future, though). Finally, we’re in the process of hiring a general marketer to drive traffic to our products and games.

Happy one-year anniversary to Whiskers! It’s been so long, but it seems like just yesterday I was spending all day every day drawing the collection and coming up with the ideas that would blossom into the world of The Great Pond. For those of you who have been around since the beginning, we appreciate you! I hope you enjoy your copy of Last Fish! that we worked so hard on.
