It constitutes a very interesting example of the reuse of prehistoric structures in the construction of a church, as if in a gesture of assumed appropriation of a space that has long been sacred.

The Church of São Bento do Mato, the parish's main church, is a modest example, with a rectangular plan, characteristic of the region's traditional architecture, with traces of a dolmen, on whose beds the vault rests. The attached dolmen dates back to 4000 BC – 3000 BC and the construction of the primitive temple, of which only the apse remains, dates back to the end of the 16th century. Located next to the cemetery, the church was built in the 18th century and is currently closed and in a worrying state of conservation. This monument has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1957.
