It opened in the Anjos area and brought together five friends who are passionate about plants and the area of ​​food and beverage.

Francisco Martins, Francisco Sá, Martino Gallo, Antonio Abreu join Diogo in the idealization and creation of A Mata. “The idea for the project was born out of a desire by all of us to open a space that did not exist in a neighborhood where we spend a lot of time, and some of us live, in this case, Anjos.”

The friends had already worked in the catering sector, in plant stores, such as Horto do Campo Grande and Super Botânica, but also as music and cultural producers. All these experiences came together in this recent space in Lisbon.

“We wanted to create a space that would bring together different passions and desires, from cocktails, to good drinking, musical and artistic programming, and also work with plants, which involves everything from selling them to maintaining gardens, or creating new ones. green spaces."

For four months they were under construction at number 8A on Rua Maria Andrade, enough time to get the space they envisioned up and running.

“We think it is this richness that has made the space a hyper-eclectic place, visited by a lot of different people, from various nationalities and social strata, which gives us great happiness, because A Mata is that: a space for conviviality that was missing here.”

You can enter and start seeing and choosing plants to take, as you have already noticed. They are a decorative element, but you can also take them home. The decision of whether or not to buy a new tenant to care for and water when needed can be made while sipping a cocktail or tasting a snack.

“We have a beautiful wine cellar as we wanted, full of options. Then there are the house cocktails. You can also opt for hummus, the salmon salad with feta cheese and confit tomato or the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and croutons. To go with it, the drink menu continues with some classic proposals. There's the caipirinha, the mojito, the Porto tonic bank, the pisco sour or the moscow mule.

Non-alcoholic has a selection of natural juices. Try the one with pear, banana and biscuits, the one with orange, beetroot and carrots, the one with pineapple with cinnamon and basil, or the one with red fruits and mint.

One of the space's next goals is to create an online plant store. “It will allow you to sell more plant species and offer other services, such as delivery service.”
