The Feitoria is a military establishment located next to the Tagus River, in Oeiras, consisting of a set of buildings that only in the 18th century, due to its strategic position, began to include a Battery with Fire Mouths. It was linked to the construction of the Fortress of São Lourenço da Cabeça Seca (16th and 17th centuries), commonly known as Torre do Bugio, since it served for several years as a support yard for its construction, namely as a residence for workers and a warehouse for materials.

In 1803, one of the buildings in the Factory housed the College of Education of the Regiment of Artillery of the Court, an institution that preceded the Military College, whose foundation was driven by the then Colonel Teixeira Rebello (1750-1825), Commander of the Factory barracks. It stayed here until 1813, when the College was transferred to Lisbon, under the name of Royal Military College.

For its part, the Battery was in 1763 artillery with 12 pieces of iron and 1 piece of bronze, with Captain Sebastião Pereira Cabral de Mesquita as Governor at this time. In 1793 it was subject to recovery works as it was deteriorated and later, during the period of the French invasions, it was included in the Defensive Line of Oeiras. Years of decline followed.

It is also known that there was a period when the Trading Post was partially rented and served as the residence of the poet Tomás António Ribeiro Ferreira, and in 1909 his daughter, the writer Branca de Gonta Colaço, married to Jorge Colaço, lived in this place. In 1919 this military establishment was fully recovered for hospital purposes and, in 1939, it was handed over to the Military College for use as a holiday camp.
