Most people don't know  about the unsung heroes who made today’s scientific discoveries possible and one of them was Aleksandr Ignatyevich Shargei . 

 A dreamer by heart and an engineer by profession, He is the  pioneer of Human space flight and aeronautics. He was one of the greatest visionaries humanity had ever seen 

Nasa had spent 18 months to map the best way possible but were unable to find one  . Direct ascent wasn’t a viable option and That’s when the work of Shargei was valued . He had already mapped the path and introduced the concept of lunar orbit rendezvous. Which was used in the apollo mission subsequently. 

He had published his book Conquest of interplanetary space at his own expense and wrote the equations in it himself as the printer posed problems for printing equations.  

As The Russian revolution was on rise and from the risk of being arrested as he belonged to the line of tsar army officers he changed his identity from Alexander Shargie to a dead man named Yuri Vasilievich Kondratyuk.  

He made the calculations of the trajectory for a spacecraft from earth ‘s orbit to moon’s orbit and back home . Its now known as Kondratyuk’s Loop. He made great contributions to aeronautics and used to fill notebooks about it. He made a wind power generator and grain mills with his engineering mind but was stuck due to Soviet union and fearing of reveling his true identity to officers . When one of his fellow was arrested due to allegedly “wasting time on designing space craft “ he  stopped working on it  and asked one of his friends to take his work to America . 

He died due to unknown circumstances while serving as a volunteer in the Red Army .  

As I have read more and more books and watch the Cosmos, I have come to a realization that so many great inventors and scientist are not acknowledged and are left to be ignored whose work form the basis of our technology . They might not  have made those discoveries for fame or money but they do deserve to be acknowledged .
