Introducing: Code & Community

My geek cred runs deep. I learned to code in the 1980’s on a TRS-80 Model IV (Z-80 processor with a whopping 64k of RAM). I’d hand write assembly language on paper, transcribe into hexadecimal and punch directly into RAM where I could execute code from a specified address. I’ve chewed my share of glass. (Editor’s note: I was 14 at the time and this was fun for me and I hope my wife never reads this blog as I’ve managed to keep my true level of dorkness hidden from her all these years)

Fast forward a handful of decades of military service (Armored Cavalry Officer, Iraq veteran), private sector (mostly startups), and a smattering of non-profit/international development work and I’ve found myself in the world of crypto & web3. The vibe feels very similar to the “world wide web” in the late 90’s. Lot’s of potential - plenty of unplowed ground.

I won’t pontificate too much in this intro, but I’m building and will document that journey here. Some will be straight up code focused as I intend to post the things I learn as tutorials (I had a bit of technology catch up to do since my Z-80 days). I’m also going to write about organizational development in web3 as there are a lot of blue sky ideas about DAOs and decentralized governance. So, a bit of “oil & water” from a topic standpoint - but perhaps quality coding content might get some unsuspecting founders to ponder my ramblings on leadership and community.

So here we go….
