Rocket Pool deploys on zkSync Era

Ethereum staking provider Rocket Pool has been deployed on the zkSync Era network. It is the first Ethereum liquid staking protocol to deploy on the newly launched network.

Rocket Pool customers can now move their rETH quicker and cheaply using zkSync Era, resulting in a more user-friendly experience in DeFi apps.

USDC launching on Arbitrum

Circle, the stablecoin issuer, will offer USDC natively on Arbitrum, making it the official version in the Layer 2 ecosystem and replacing previously linked liquidity.

Circle noted that the benefits of native USDC include additional assistance to remove bridge withdrawal delays and the potential of institutional on and off-ramps.

The Ethereum-bridged version of USDC on block explorers will be dubbed "USDC.e," according to Circle.

Zero-knowledge to come to Optimism OP stack

The OP Stack team recently opened an RFP to build a ZK validity prover for the OP Stack.

According to the RFP:

Implementing a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) for OP Chains is required to enable secure and low-latency cross-chain communication between L2 and L1 and between OP Chains.

Also:

A ZKP … that can prove the Optimism fault proof program acts as the foundation for a system that can prove any OP Stack based blockchain.

For this Mission, the Optimism Foundation will accept up to three submissions.

Community-driven mods with OP Stack Mods

OP Labs said it would start highlighting OP Stack Mods, which are changes or improvements to the OP Stack produced by members of the Optimism and Ethereum communities for review.

OP Stack mods are interesting modifications made by independent developers. OP Labs has started highlighting some of the mods as potential OP Stack additions.

ZkEVM on Starknet with Kakarot

New zk-EVM project Kakarot completed its pre-seed investment round.

Kakarot zkEVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) implemented in Cairo. It will allow interoperability between EVM-compatible code written in Solidity to run on Starknet without needing to rewrite.
