Metalink Integrates Chainlink VRF, Helping to Create A New Standard For NFT Giveaways ⚡️

Chainlink Verifiable Random Function helps power Metalink’s simple, secure, and entirely random giveaways for NFT collections, starting with Deadfellaz.

Metalink, the social app for NFT communities, announced today that it has integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on Ethereum mainnet to provide cryptographic randomness to platform giveaways.

Chainlink VRF brings tamper-proof randomness to smart contract applications, helping ensure that Metalink’s collectors can independently verify giveaway competitions. Metalink is backing the company’s commitment to its collector base by using industry-leading technology from Chainlink for enhanced transparency.

*“Metalink’s number-one priority is to provide our communities with a unique and safe NFT social platform. With Chainlink VRF, our collectors can enter giveaways in a single click, while also knowing we’re using a technology that prioritizes fairness and transparency to determine winners.” **-***Jake Udell, CEO and Founder of Metalink

“Chainlink VRF is an obvious solution to the problems NFT projects face when conducting raffles. We’ve incorporated Chainlink VRF into Metalink for each collection we support so that teams have easy access to verifiable randomness to conduct provably random giveaways.”

This approach expands upon Metalink’s Launchpad, which was introduced at the end of last year and has already demonstrated success in coordinating a number of high-profile NFT giveaways. Coolman’s Universe, created by prominent artist Coolman Coffeedan, was offered on Launchpad in late 2021 and in just three months has achieved a total trading volume of over $60 million.

Now, Chainlink VRF will be integrated into the backend of all Metalink platform giveaways to provide a greater standard of randomness when determining award recipients.

In addition, the frontend features and Launchpad process will now be available to any collection hosted on Metalink, enabling collections to run verifiably random giveaways within their own servers for their communities.

Spreading access to collections is a key feature of Metalink’s community, and Chainlink VRF helps this to happen without any fear of manipulation or preferential treatment. As a platform hosting some of the most valuable NFT collections—its first 3,000 collectors made up over 9.12% (over $350MM) of OpenSea’s $3.65B August 2021 revenue—this integration stands as a testament of Metalink's commitment to security. The new standard of using Chainlink VRF for verifiably fair giveaways will premiere with a giveaway for Deadfellaz collectors. Winners will be able to customize Air Force Ones with their own NFT from the collection.

Deadfellaz owners have the chance to win a customized pair of Air Forces Ones with their NFT featured on them. The raffle will be powered by Chainlink VRF.

“We’re excited that the Metalink team chose to integrate Chainlink VRF for a secure source of randomness as Metalink hosts a large and growing collection of novel NFTs.” -Tomasz Wojewoda, Head of Global Sales at Chainlink Labs.

”Chainlink VRF will help ensure that each giveaway conducted on Metalink is both auditable and tamper-proof, bringing enhanced transparency to its community members.”

Chainlink’s decentralized oracle networks provide tamper-proof inputs, outputs, and computations to unlock advanced smart contract use cases on any blockchain, helping ensure that developers’ innovation is supported by highly secure, feature-rich technology. Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Metalink smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. Ultimately, this means that Metalink giveaways are powered by cost-effective, provable randomness hyper-resistant to tampering by node operators, and malicious actors.

Coinciding with announcing the integration of Chainlink VRF, Metalink is launching a series of weekly Deadfellaz giveaways on its platform. The first of which is three pairs of custom designed Nike Air Force Ones by Sekure D, whose work has been featured in the National Gallery of Victoria and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide our community with a fair and transparent way to enter giveaways and contests via Metalink’s integration of Chainlink VRF.” -Betty, Co-Founder of Deadfellaz

“Community safety is a priority for us at Deadfellaz, which is why we are so enthusiastic about the platform Metalink has developed and look forward to the Horde enjoying their dedicated Metalink server.”

This offering is the first in a planned suite of tools Metalink is integrating to support the NFT community. The Metalink platform boasts large numbers of collectors of the most prestigious NFT collections, such as Bored Apes and Cryptopunks, along with new, rapidly growing collections being developed via Metalink’s Launchpad. Last week, the platform welcomed a dedicated OpenSea server, indicating Metalink’s position as a trusted player in the ecosystem.
