rivers in theĀ desert

was figuring i'd jot down thoughts of being a leftist in "the community". so if y'all dont know im kinda social/economic leftist person. i read theory (browse leftypol), help ppl unionize (was in grocery workers union when i was bagging groceries at 16) and participate in the dialectic ( shitpost while listening to chapo stoned).

good song btw

ironic deattachment aside, it's a nightmare that ppl dont have free healthcare in this country, that oil companies can just frack chems into the water supplies of poor ppl, that corpos benifited from covid money printer while betting on which of their slaughterhouse workers would get covid first. i think being fruity is ok. so yeah a bunch of ppl adjacent to these beliefs and coordinating for them dont like teh cryptoz. why is that?

  1. something something the enviroment
  2. something something manufactured scarcity

ok so im not really an expert but lets take a look at these

  • something something the enviroment

its stupid to want to dunk on this take and not worth it. as of just a few days ago PoS was merged onto a shadowfork of goerli testnet. loads of midwits dont seem to understand what PoS is (including me aparently it's not just another nakmoto consensus mechanism) but basically we're aiming for .1% of the energy used for visas transactions (like what even is the carbon foot print of paxos or whatever they use for txs?). polygon is there, substrate is nPoS. (im futaocracy pilled)

one point i guess about this: i think this is kinda what we can be termed lifestylism. thats the belief that an individuals lifestyle is gonna be some miraculous (or nefarious) action instead of collective action (in this case just because some lasereyed moonboy on coke bought an ape doesnt mean a legion of horny anime anons arent trying to get PoS to work)

nah this dog dont hunt either. ppl being airdropped 4-5 figures just bcuz they pressed some buttons? a nft project crowdfunding ppl from being evicted? CC0 interoperability with jpegs? so yeah i know the metaverse walmart makes me wanna kms too but the free and open projects here are creating rivers in the desert.

think how much we prioritize public goods here, every gitcoin grant, every (non fucked up/rent-seeking) airdrop, every ā€œplz hire my friendā€œ post. these blockchainz can be a tool, they arent the end all be all of fully automated star trek socialism but the network effects that can be harnessed for change and funding to the neglected and abused could be awesome. Emergent Strategy by Adrienne Maree Brown points towards coordination and something something mycelium something decenteralization way better than i ever could. mishka personlly thinks of gift-economies of abundance as studied by anthropologists when thinking of the discourse around manufactured scarcity in the blockchainz. lets just hope we can go out, inform and discuss, strike out a river for other ppl
