some thoughts on running geth on new pc

hi y’all. so the reason I’ve been doing that go interpreter project is because i’d figure how geth works. its kinda weird that im so hyped for the new shiny stuff like argent wallet being interoperable with python and rust and leveraging WASM for zk stuff but i really want to learn about old geth. iirc theres an “open“ version of eth that can be built in rust but idk. anyways so im running two accounts on geth light mode on goerli rn.

so wtf is proof of authority. says that this package clique here implements a proof of authority consensus mechanism. i may have skimmed through that on my blockchain course but i suppose it’s what i’ve already been doing with testnet faucets and posting addresses on my twitter. cant wait for ENS to do that instead. Twitter has irrovecably rotted my mind and psyche.

i think its pretty cool that i had no idea that proof of authority was a consensus mechanism but i was already doing it. it's like some sort of network effect where we're just going to not even think about how we're using L1 as settlement layer while L2s are popping off
