The Crush list holds what we consider to be the worlds most sociably seductive beauties found in cities around the world. Members of Mundo Lingo’s VIB (Venue Investigation Bureau) physically inspect each candidate venue, checking it against a comprehensive list of criteria.

The Candidates

Crushes are special:

✅ They are: Unique: alternative, warm, grungy, funky, arty, often with heavy furniture, murals, trees & plants and can be described as having soul and character.

❌ They are not: Minimalist, industrial, corporate, sterile, or with a decor of hard flat shiny surfaces that transmit a “clean” but empty soulless energy.

Members of the VIB investigate between 100 to 300 venues for each city following our Venue Investigation Guide. They are assisted with regular team calls and training.

Essential Criteria

The basics to catch a head turn 👀

• 150+ capacity

• Open past midnight

• 100+ Smoke-free area

• Temperature control

• Sound System quality

• Hearing Friendly Environment

• All-Around Lighting

• Wheelchair access

• Food Availability

• Bathroom Capacity

• Beers on tap, use of glass (no disposable packaging)

Secondary Criteria

On which further evaluation is made

• 200+ Capacity

• Screen-Free Environment

• Quality cooked food

• Toe-tapping Music

• Warm Service

• Advertising-Free Environment

• Soul Search: Points of decorative or artistic interest, plants, ornaments, books, board games, water features and other signatures of life and humanity

• Humble Vibes

Exceptions

Considerations are made based on local availability or cultural norms. For example, in the UK, some cities may have difficulty acquiring licenses that allow venues to be open past midnight. Flexibility may be given in such cases.
