Classification

First, let’s talk about classification. Based on their appearance, we have grouped Pudgy Penguins as follows:

• Normal (8,883)

• NavyBlue (4) — Eligible for our exclusive tailoring service

• Mirrored (1) — Eligible for our exclusive tailoring service

MYTY currently supports the Normal (8,883) Pudgy Penguins. That’s 99.94% of the entire 8,888-size collection. Then what about the 0.06%? The NavyBlue and Mirrored Pudgy Penguins?

Animation

Now, let’s jump right into how Pudgy Penguins will move. In the MYTY ecosystem, NFTs are animated through our motion-capture technology.

A) Facial Expression Animation

Pudgy Penguins is a still-image PFP collection with a limited range of facial expressions. For example, we open and close our eyes. Pudgy Penguins’ traits don’t include eye-blinking. So, we created them ourselves.

For the mouth, we created 6 shapes, ‘Ah’, ‘Ee’, ‘Oo’, ‘Th’, ‘M’, and ‘L’, to mimic all the primary mouth shapes we make while talking.

B) Body, Head and Face

Through MYTY Camera, Pudgy Penguins can not only express emotions but also move their body, head, and face. Let’s deep-dive into what MYTY Camera enables.

i. Body

MYTY Camera controls the Pudgy Penguins’ bodies by tracking the position of the user’s chest. As the below visual illustrates, Pudgy Penguins will move left and right, reflecting the user’s movement.

ii. Head

Furthermore, MYTY Camera rotates the Pudgy Penguin’s head based on the angle of the head viewed from the front.

iii. Face

Lastly, MYTY Camera track’s the user’s face orientation and lets the Pudgy Penguin’s face position move accordingly.

C) Special Effects

We’re not done. We wanted to create a more dynamic and attractive Pudgy Penguins movement.

i. Glasses and Masks

Some Pudgy Penguins have eyewear such as eye patches, glasses or sunglasses. More specifically, these face traits are Squad, Star Glasses, Avitor, Circle Glasses, Clout Googles, Hero Mask Blue/Red, Villain Mask. To allow realistic animation, we immobilized the parts that needed to remain fixed with the eyewear. Look how smoothly the eyewear follows the Pudgy Penguins’ head and face movements!

ii. Physics Application

Some Pudgy Penguins are wearing adorable bear heats. More specifically, these head traits are Panda Hat and PolarBear hat. By applying gravity, we made the avatar move more dynamically when motion-tracking the users. The visual below shows the movement of the PolarBear hat strap as the Pudgy Penguins move their heads.
