Why Build Nata Router?

Public blockchains, like Ethereum, have some of the worst user experience when it comes to privacy. Every transaction is stored onchain FOREVER! When Bob sends 1 ETH to Alice on Ethereum (or any EVM chain) he reveals his wallet balance, complete transaction history, NFTs, and decentralized social media accounts.

Anyone could analyze, track, extort, or physically harm Bob after noticing his large portfolio. Another concern is for-profit companies, such as Chainanalysis and Arkham, deploying AI to deanonymize every onchain user. Obviously, this user experience is unacceptable.

Some users are fighting back against Arkham and are looking for ways to maintain privacy while conducting onchain transactions. Currently, most DeFi users requiring privacy rely on centralized exchanges like Binance or Coinbase to keep their onchain identities separate. This approach comes with significant risks, as users are entrusting their funds to a third party who may freeze or seize their assets. Relying on a centralized exchange goes against the core principle of "not your keys, not your crypto."

There is a growing need for a privacy solution that allows users to maintain their anonymity without relying on intermediaries. Nata Network, an Aztec ZK Rollup was deployed as a strong private base layer that allowed for the creation of Nata Router. Nata Router was inspired by the rise of LayerZero's crosschain communication protocol and more recently integrated Across Protocol, which offers lower fees for bridging ETH and stablecoins. Unlike other single-chain privacy protocols that charge fees in percentages, Nata Network has a flat transaction fee of less than $1, making it the most affordable onchain privacy solution.

What sets Nata Router apart is its ability to connect multiple blockchain networks to maximize the anonymity set, allowing users to transfer assets privately between any address, regardless of the chain they are on. This feature has significant implications for the DeFi space, where users often need to move funds between their addresses to take advantage of various opportunities such as minting NFTs, buying tokens, or farming airdrops, but require each wallet address to keep distinctly separate identities.

Nata Router represents a significant step forward in the quest for onchain privacy, offering a secure, decentralized, and cost-effective solution that respects crypto users’ right to financial privacy. As the DeFi landscape continues to evolve, Nata Router will play an essential role in shielding users' personal transactions from the eyes of draconian companies, like Arkham and Chainanalysis.
