Global Pizza Party 2023

On May 22, PizzaDAO organised the world's largest pizza party to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day. Over 100 events from +75 countries distributed FREE pizza funded by the revenue from PizzaDAO's Rare Pizzas project. The project features 10,000 generative baked pizza NFTs created by topping artists worldwide.

Notable PizzaDAO supporters include Cheech and Chong, Seth Green, Steve Aoki, Tony Gemignani, Time Pieces,, WGMI, Ownthedoge and the NounsDAO, which will also raise charity funds. The party occurred in various locations worldwide, including London, Paris, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Vancouver, Tokyo and New York.

PizzaDAO aims to use blockchain technology to support small businesses and create locally-focused communities. Since its establishment, the project has connected over 400 pizzerias and communities and provided over $500,000 worth of free pizza. Bitcoin Pizza Day commemorates Laszlo Hanyecz's historic purchase of two large pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins in 2010, now valued at around $290 million.

Assassin's Creed Smart Collectibles

Ubisoft has partnered with Integral Reality Labs to introduce Assassin's Creed Smart Collectibles, combining NFT access passes with 3D-printed physical items. Minted as "Digital Soul" NFTs on Ethereum scaling network Polygon, these collectibles allow owners to customize and redeem a physical keepsake depicting characters from the Assassin's Creed franchise. Various outfits, weapons, and poses can be chosen before the physical item is printed and shipped. The collectibles feature an embedded NFC chip, enabling owners to access digital versions of the characters through a companion app. Pricing details are yet to be disclosed, but a pre-sale is set to begin soon.

Pudgy Penguins, a popular NFT collection, experienced explosive sales and interest with the launch of its "Phygital" Toy Collection & Experience on Amazon. Within the first two days, over $500,000 in purchases were made, surpassing 20,000 individual toy sales. Pudgy Penguins dominated Amazon's sales charts, outperforming established brands like Disney and Lego. The project aims to bring millions of users into the Web3 space by collaborating with prominent companies and individuals from music and sports. Despite the NFT market crash, Pudgy Penguins raised $9 million this year and seeks to become a prominent face of the NFT market.

Gutter Cat Gang Teams Up with LaMelo Ball and PUMA Basketball

NFT project Gutter Cat Gang has announced a collaboration with NBA star LaMelo Ball and PUMA Basketball. The partnership is expected to include Gutter Cat Gang-themed apparel and sneakers. The collaboration signifies the growing mainstream acceptance of NFTs, with major sports brands embracing the technology. More details about the partnership will be revealed in the future. Ledger's Recovery Tool Sparks Security Concerns

Ledger has introduced a recovery tool for its hardware crypto wallets, allowing users to send encrypted shards of their seed phrase to third-party companies for backup and recovery. However, the feature has raised concerns among security experts and Ledger owners, who worry about the safety implications of sharing sensitive information with external entities. Critics argue that this functionality introduces potential vulnerabilities and breaks the main security assumption of hardware wallets. Ledger clarified that the decryption of shards occurs on the Ledger device, ensuring user identity verification, and the seed phrase remains encrypted and fragmented. The Ledger Recovery service will be available for a monthly fee and involve custodians like Ledger, Coincover, and EscrowTech.

KIKI World: Co-Created Web3 Beauty Brand with AI Tech

KIKI World, a new Web3-ready beauty brand, is co-created by its community and utilizes AI technology in its production process. The brand allows its community to vote on the products that go into production, with the first product being the Pretty Nail Graffiti nail polish. Users can vote on potential colours, and loyalty points are earned for voting, which can be redeemed as discounts when their voted colour is available for sale. KIKI World plans to introduce on-chain features in the future, allowing customers to select and own beauty product attributes. The brand aims to offer interactive and playful experiences informed by the latest technology while serving basic needs in the beauty industry.

Axie Infinity crypto game gains approval for Apple's App Store

Sky Mavis, the creator of the popular play-to-earn crypto game Axie Infinity, has announced that its latest version, "Axie Infinity: Origins," will be available for download on Apple's App Store. Initially launching in select countries across Latin America and Southeast Asia, the move is seen as a step towards broader adoption of web3 gaming. Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin expressed optimism that Apple's policies will evolve to support in-app NFTs purchases and link to third-party marketplaces. Axie Infinity gained significant popularity during the pandemic and generated over $4 billion in trading volume, but it faced challenges after a hacking incident and the shift to its own blockchain called Ronin.

Deadfellaz Labs

Deadfellaz Labs (DFZ Labs) has launched Streamingfellaz, an extension of the Deadfellaz IP that allows collectors to bring their digital avatars to life through video streaming. Streamingfellaz enables Deadfellaz collectors to embody their PFP characters during virtual calls, live streams, and recorded video content on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, Google Meet, and Zoom. The feature utilizes motion tracking and emotion recognition technology to authentically animate the avatars in real-time. DFZ Labs aims to provide resources for self-expression and creativity to its collectors, fostering a strong emotional connection with their digital identities.
