On February 11th, Optimism has launched a new voting website built by Agora's team: vote.optimism.io
You can learn more about the Agora team and their next steps through their funding proposal at:
Note: If you have delegated before using the old app then you don't need to delegate again on the new voting site. However, if you want to vote by yourself then you need to create a profile on the new voting site.
In the main interface, you can see some functions such as:
Connect wallet: Used to connect your wallet to the website
Operating manual: Details on the governance in the Optimism Collective
Governance calendar: Administrative calendar, used to view timelines
Delegates: Below is a list of delegates.
Search bar: Used to find delegates by ENS or wallet address
NOTE: Your voting power is determined by how many OP tokens you have in your wallet at the time of the snapshot. The snapshot will be taken at the start of a given voting period.
You can choose anyone to delegate. This delegate will vote on your behalf. You will not hold any voting power or execute your own votes but you will retain 100% ownership of your tokens and can use them however you want. Here I will take polynya.eth as an example for this guide.
To delegate to polynya.eth, simply click on the Delegate button on their profile
Then click Delegate again to confirm the delegation. You will need to make 1 transaction to confirm your delegation.
In order to delegate to yourself and vote on the proposals, you must first create a profile on the website: https://vote.optimism.io/create, or you can click the Create button on the image above. I will use my address as an example for this guide.
To create a profile, you need to fill in the following information:
In the Delegate statement, you can fill in the delegate commitment according to this template:https://gov.optimism.io/t/delegate-commitments/235
You can also give your own views in the View on top issues
In the Other info, you need to fill in relevant information such as twitter, discord and email account.
Finally you need to Agree to the Delegate Code of Conduct by selecting Yes and submit delegate profile to create your profile
After creating your profile, you can delegate to yourself by clicking the Delegate button on your profile
Finally, click Delegate again to confirm the Delegation You will need to make 1 transaction to confirm your delegation.
There is currently a test vote that you can participate in before the Bedrock upgrade proposal on February 16th, 7PM UTC
You can choose to vote For/Against/Abstain and state your reason above. Then you will need to make 1 transaction to confirm your vote
Once you've voted, you can click Edit to access your profile to see your voting history.
The displayed name on your profile is based on your current ENS that is linked to your address. You can follow the instruction on the ENS site to create your web3 username and link its to your address
The profile picture is based on your ENS avatar. You can follow the guide below for more details on how to set your ENS profile avatar:
If you have any feedback, problems or requests, you can ask in the #gov-general channel on Optimism Discord or message the Agora team directly at twitter @charliecfeng or zcf#9299 on Optimism Discord
