More than a decade since its official recognition, World Photography Day remains a significant event in the creative world. Celebrated every August 19, photographers across the globe capture and share their unique perspectives. The 2024 edition of World Photography Day promises to continue this tradition.
What Is World Photography Day?
World Photography Day honors the creativity, craftsmanship, science, and history of photography. On this day, photographers are encouraged to share their best images on social media with the hashtag #WorldPhotographyDay, aiming to inspire others. The celebration first included an online gallery in 2010, featuring over 250 submissions from photographers in more than 100 countries. Since then, World Photography Day has only grown, becoming an even more influential event.
History of World Photography Day
World Photography Day has roots far deeper than its 2010 global recognition. It dates back to 1837, commemorating the invention of the Daguerreotype process—the first commercially successful form of photography, named after its inventor, Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre. However, it was on August 19, 2010, that World Photography Day was officially recognized as a global celebration.
Click Deep Reals and World Photography Day
This year, World Photography is a very special one as it’s the first year the Click camera app exists. Click, powered by Nodle, helps you create and share authentic photos aka Deep Reals via your iOS or Android mobile phone. What are Deep Reals you may ask?
“A deep real is an inversion of a deep fake. It’s not assuming everything is real and      that we just need to demonstrate something’s fakeness. Rather it assumes      everything is fake and that we need to sufficiently demonstrate something’s      realness.” - defined by Union Square Ventures*
So, go ahead! Celebrate World Photography Day by capturing your deep reals with Click and share them on socials with #WorldPhotographyDay and #ClickDeepReals. Show the world your authentic photos…and let’s continue to celebrate World Photography Day each and every day.
