In this blog post, we delve into the journey of OLM (@OLM_Research) from its successful IMO (Initial Model Offering) to its current status as a decentralized community as well as part of the ORA ecosystem. We celebrate the advancements OLM and IMO bring to AI model development.
#1 Initiation: The First IMO, First Success
a) Intro to IMO
IMO, Initial Model Offering, tokenizes AI model onchain.
For AI models, IMO provides sustainable funding for open-source projects. It aligns values and incentives for ecosystems, promoting distribution and ongoing contributions. It allows token holders to capture the value of AI models onchain through revenue and inference assets like ERC-7007.
b) Intro to OpenLM
OpenLM is a performative language modeling (LM) repository, aimed to facilitate research on medium-sized language models. OpenLM is an open-source model under MIT-license created by a decentralized team.
c) OLM IMO
The world’s first IMO for OLM was a pivotal moment in AI x Crypto.
The IMO allowed OLM to tokenize its AI models on Ethereum, ensuring sustainable funding and fostering an ecosystem of contributors aligned with the vision of open-source and decentralized AI of OpenLM Model, as the truly Open AI.
#2 Community: Building a Decentralized Community
OLM Research and OLM DAO are self-organized communities post IMO. They embody the decentralization and open-source development ethos in the IMO concept.
OLM is fully permissionless, making it possible for anyone to build on its AI models and other works to contribute to its continuous development.
OLM operates in a decentralized fashion, driven by its community and contributors. This distinction underscores the decentralized and collaborative ethos that defines OLM's journey and success.
#3 Research: Advancements in AI Models
OLM Research has made significant strides in AI model development. Based on the original model of OpenLM, they recently announced two major advancements:

Optimized Open_LM Model: OLM Research upgrades OpenLM model with attention mechanism and dataset handling.

Introduction of Fine-Tuned Models: OLM Research releases fine-tuned modes (the 1B and 7B open_lm Chat Models and the (A.I.)location AI Model) based on OpenLM.
#4 Product: ChatOLM, A Decentralized AI Chatbot
Based on their previous works, OLM Research has developed ChatOLM. ChatOLM is a decentralized AI chatbot powered by onchain AI of $OLM.
ChatOLM is a censorship-resistant AI chatbot powered by fine-tuned OpenLM model. ChatOLM leverages Ethereum to distribute AI inference to decentralized ORA nodes powered by ORA’s OAO.
Through the development of this product, OLM Research showcases its ability to scale a product and deliver impact. There are more than 8,000 onchain usages in the first month after launch.
ORA’s Contribution
