Data Availability for Onchain AI

1) Data Availability (DA) with zkML and opML

Data Availability means that data is publicly accessible for anyone to verify, and it can also be thought of as “data publication”.

For example, Layer 2 blockchains handle transactions off-chain and this data is kept available so that anyone can verify that computations were done correctly.

Entering into the era of AI that includes the on-chain AI approaches of zkML and opML, data availability is also required for storing data such as AI inference input and output data, AI inference traces, or an AI model itself.

Specifically, the availability of both AI model data and AI inference data is crucial for opML, similar to all optimistic-based systems, because all parties need these data to be accessible to re-execute computations and launch a dispute if necessary.

2) 0G, Programmable DA 2.0 For The On-Chain AI Era

To enable DA optimized for AI, 0G’s Data Availability Layer offers an infinitely scalable solution, seamlessly integrating with their general-purpose data storage system of 0G Storage.

The architecture of 0G ensures data availability by erasure-coding data, fragmenting it across multiple storage nodes, and leveraging a consensus network for quick verification.

By utilizing a verifiable random function (VRF) to select storage nodes, 0G minimizes any risk of collusion and significantly enhances data retrieval speeds.

0G’s programmable DA layer can enable optimized, efficient, and programmable data availability and storage for on-chain AI like ORA’s OAO, while upholding OAO’s end-to-end verifiability and decentralization.

This works by having 0G’s storage solution “0G Storage” store any relevant Web2 or Web3 data, with programmability over decisions such as the amount of data replicability. 0G can then query this data to prove data availability, which is particularly beneficial for the operation of Ora’s opML as it ensures public data verification.

Furthermore, the entire pipeline of model data, input data, and output data can be stored in a decentralized manner. This decentralized storage not only enhances security but also fosters a more streamlined and efficient data flow, as it allows for quick access and retrieval of on-chain AI.
