The Bitcoin Amsterdam Conference 2024, held on October 9-10, at Westergas, attracted a vibrant crowd of over 5,000 attendees and featured more than 150 speakers.
Key figures like Jack Mallers, CEO of Strike, and Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, highlighted Bitcoin’s transformative potential and ongoing mysteries, such as the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.
In addition to notable discussions, I met Daniel Nita, a Romanian crypto trader and influencer, alongside other Romanians, including attendees and project teams, further showcasing the growing Romanian presence in the global crypto scene.
Joana Cotar, a member of the German parliament (with a Romanian background), delivered an insightful session discussing how Bitcoin can empower national economies, fight inflation, and provide financial freedom to people in developing countries, such as those in Africa
Several official announcements were made during the conference, adding depth to the discussions:
Bitcoin Brabant B.V.: The company announced that Bitcoin is now crucial for providing heat to greenhouses in the Netherlands, particularly for growing crops like peppers and tomatoes. This innovation showcases Bitcoin's potential in sustainable agriculture
Chainway Labs: Introduced their project Citrea, which recently launched its testnet to create a trust-minimized Bitcoin bridge. This development aims to make BTC accessible without needing to convert it into an ERC-20 token, offering a decentralized alternative to custodial solutions
ICONOMI: Presented ICONOMI Wealth, a comprehensive digital asset management solution tailored to small and mid-sized firms. It simplifies crypto portfolio management and provides expert support in trading and compliance
BTC Media: Through its "Bitcoin for Corporations" initiative, BTC Media is driving corporate adoption of Bitcoin by equipping business leaders with the knowledge and certification necessary to integrate Bitcoin into corporate strategies
I had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly talented Pepelangelo, an artist renowned for her distinctive and playful frog-themed artwork that resonates deeply with the crypto community. As a fun surprise, I got "frogged" by her, and she even captured the moment in a fantastic piece of art.
Her creativity and ability to blend humor with art continue to inspire, and I'm thrilled to share the photo of this special moment. Pepelangelo's work truly brings a unique and vibrant energy to the Bitcoin community!
