Particle: Phase One + Beyond

It's been an eventful year for Particle. Over the past year, we have launched and grown into a genre-defining movement. We are the world's first people-powered museum bridging the world of digital and traditional art. To celebrate our progress and to provide context for what's coming, let's review the year's main events.

Particle revealed Banksy's Love is in the Air as the museum's first piece to be acquired during Art Basel in December 2021. The LIITA then traveled to New York City for six weeks to promote the sale of Particles alongside immersive and interactive installations. By January, Particles of Banksy's Love is in the Air were made available for purchase, and Particle joined Kevin Rose to discuss the project on the Proof Podcast.

After the successful launch of the LIITA token, the intention to support a DAO launch was announced. The ParticleDAO was born. The team began hosting a series of Twitter spaces describing the proposed purpose and mechanics of the DAO, along with guest artists and experts. In March, the first token-gated vote took place, and it decided that Los Angeles would be the next place that the LIITA would be displayed.

Over the next three months, Particle hosted discussions on fine art and rewarded LIITA holders with rare art-world access. This included priority access to the Fireworks collection by Cai Guo-Qiang, free trips to the LA event, and tickets to NFT.NYC. Particle was also presented at the Art Curators Conference in NYC and was featured on the NFTs for Newbies podcast.

In June, ever desirous of bridging the disparate worlds of Web3 and traditional fine art, Particle held a pop-up exhibition in Los Angeles and presented to a crypto-native audience at DAO Planet in NYC. The LA event features prominent artists, including Gucci Ghost and Michael Reader, host meet and greets, artist talks, gallery tours, augmented reality experiences, and exclusive Particle merchandise.

During DAO NYC, the DAO launched its community website and Twitter account and initiated weekly calls to provide regular project updates and to create a place for members to share their thoughts and ideas. In August, the community chose Bristol, England, as the first European site where Banksy's LIITA work will be displayed and started holding art contests. Designs are based on particular themes and are used for the POAPs issued to members who attend weekly community calls.

Particle launched an Ethereum bridge in September and announces its acquisition of the Trevor Andrew/GucciGhost piece, Banksy's a Ghost. Holders who bridge their particles receive an airdrop of the Particalized work. Particle presents on the Crypto Girls podcast and hosts Twitter Space with various web3 artists and thought leaders. The community finalized and ratified the DAO's mission, vision, and purpose statement.

We finished the year with a bang by hosting an artists’ dinner at NFT London, launching a community reward program with ThriveCoin, and took center stage at Art Basel by hosting Streams of Consciousness in collaboration with Phillips Auction house. The event featured an opening party, panel discussions, and an art exhibition providing community members the opportunity to buy works at discounted prices and share their appreciation for fine art.
