Mirror Analysis: Week 4 in Review (2024)

This entry is part of the series: Mirror Entries Analysis. Each week, Post3 utilizes data extraction and data analysis techniques to deliver insightful reports with information concerning authors, articles, revenue, chains, keywords, and more, derived from exploring Mirror data.

For Week 4, we tackle the following questions:

  • Who are the authors from whom people have collected the most?

  • Which entries were the most collected?

  • Which authors generated the most revenue?

  • Which entries generated the most revenue?

  • What was the networks/chains usage?

  • Who caught our attention this week?

⚠️ Note: The number of collections/mints of some entries might have changed at the time I’m writing.

Let's begin to analyse 6346 posts collected from Week 4.

1 - Who are the authors/publications from whom people have collected the most?

The number of times an article has been collected/minted serves as a valuable metric to understand an author's popularity on Mirror. The “Author“ is the publication/newsletter, some authors such as protocols and ecosystems have several contributors that write to their publications. Let’s take a look at the top 10 whose work has attracted more collectors.

On this week, plug-talk-🔌📲 got the most collections. It is new on Mirror, and talks about the cocaine protocol, a comprehensive monetary ecosystem designed to merge the realms of decentralized governance, artificial intelligence, and advanced economic models. In the 2nd place, we have Mode a L2 solution aimed at builders, with more than 900 collections. On the third, cRekto, which talks about rewards and more. Both Mode and cRekto have their articles for free, but thanks to the reward system implemented by Mirror, they received significant revenue. Taiko Labs and RARI Foundation follow the list, the latter being a DAO governed by veRARI token holders.

Below is the list of the authors/publications with the most collections on Week 4:

2 - Which entries were the most collected?

Some authors publish several times in a weekly period, which grants them more collections than others. But we need to take a look at entries individually, to see which ones perform better. These are the top 10 entries:

  1. pure cocaine for sale 🧱❄️

  2. Mode Secures an OP Grant to Build the Superchain

  3. How to Complete Vela Exchange Quests On RabbitHole

  4. Mode x Redacted Finance

  5. The Rollup Coaster #18

A piece by plug-talk-🔌📲 dominates the chart and generated more than 4 ETH in revenue, surprisingly done for a new writer on Mirror. The second article belongs to Mode, which announces an Optimism grant to build its Superchain. Followed by a step-by-step quest guided by cRekto.

3 - Which authors/publications generated the most revenue?

Revenue serves as an indicator of one's ability to attract and retain people to mint their content. Here we’ll take a look at the top 10 authors that generated the most revenue from minted entries, and how it correlates with collections.

This week is quite impressive in terms of revenue, The Honey Jar dominates generating more than 50 ETH, with less than 200 collectors. plug-talk-🔌📲 also generated an incredible revenue of more than 4 ETH as mentioned before. These are values that we haven’t seen in other weekly reports. The rest of the authors/publications are difficult to compare when there is such an abrupt difference in revenue.

Below is the list of authors/publications with the most revenue:

  1. The Honey Jar

  2. plug-talk-🔌📲

  3. Mode

  4. Taiko Ecosystem

  5. cRekto

  6. Taiko Labs

  7. RARI Foundation

  8. Fuel Labs

  9. Ten

  10. Aditi

4 - Which entries generated the most revenue?

Just like in collections, revenue must be studied individually. People might be loyal to their favourite authors, but in the end, they will mint what they really like or find useful. Studying entries individually is important for writers to understand what kind of content people are willing to mint, and at what price. Below, are the top 10 entries with the most revenue:

  1. Lore 6 ♡ MiberaMaker Design Document

  2. pure cocaine for sale 🧱❄️

  3. How to deploy contract on Taiko? Katla Alpha 6 🔥

  4. Mode Secures an OP Grant to Build the Superchain

  5. How to Complete Vela Exchange Quests On RabbitHole

  6. Mode x Redacted Finance

  7. The Rollup Coaster #18

  8. RARI Chain Mainnet is live

  9. Inside Fuel - Q4 2023

  10. Hidden Horizon: Success

5 - What was the networks/chains usage?

Understanding the usage of L2 chains for minting NFT articles, is key for writers to decide which network should they use. The following pie chart only compares the usage, other metrics should be taken into account, such as the type of articles that are being published in each chain and so on.

Optimism dominates in terms of L2 usage with 99.1 % of the entries using it as the minting network. In this week’s second place, we have Base with 0.5 % usage, Linea with 0.2 %, Zora with 0.1 %, and now Polygon with 0.1 %.
