If I were in charge of your company's plan to get more people interested and into your product's gravity, to build an audience, here's what I would do to maximize EthDenver.
First, as soon as I landed I would buy a bag of small, travel-sized Vaseline tubs from CVS, slam my sticker on them, and share them with people while talking to them about my product.
- useful, handy, kind, situation-aware, love it.
Things to take into consideration before making any further decisions:
Pick a section of the industry's events that matches your narrative. EthDenver is very hackathon-oriented, but there's many side events catering to different types of orientations, including more creator and media-focused, many L2 specific, some gaming, lots of DeFi, but most importantly, a core Ethereum audience. I would think hard and deep about my product and where it is going in the next year and double down on those events. Don't spread yourselves too thin by doing everything.
What features do I want to promote, and what do I want people to do with them later.
If I were to be able to transmit one thing about my project into people's brains, what do I want that message to be?
Distill these three things and then think about the rest this way.
One more note is that I believe that grassroots engagements lead to the biggest wins, the most ambassadors and heroes for you and your project. Personal relationships are everything. So most things following focus on creating avenues to keeping in touch online.
An activation I would be doing is I would hit up Winny at Gossip Protocol, or IYK, or POAP, about NFC-chipped physical items. Nails, cards, anything that suits your brand. I would make a deal with them that they would be pre-programmed to lead to my website. Happy recipients can also use this as a business card, cool merch!!
The pre-programmed website could lead to:
more gamified quest options, most likely using Guild (following links, finding IRL QR codes that unlock chatgroups, hiding secret passwords in my keynote, etc.) or a custom site
claimables
a game with your brand
the feature that you really want to drive traffic to
I would try to architect this in a way where the free claimables would show me a graph of who came to what event niche (decided in point 2) so I can re-engage them accordingly with my messaging.
I would do is make sure I have proper documentation. And I don't mean written docs, I mean media. I kept saying it last year and it hasn't changed much yet, but having yummy content is invaluable for establishing yourselves as a respectable brand. So I would focus heavy on having a camera crew or at least something that has the quality of a Youtube vlogger and putting a narrative together so we know what we want to film and it's not just a bunch of footage of crowds of waving people.
I would rent a booth and take two Apple Vision Pros with a few high-quality hoodies. It just came out, EVERYONE and their moms would stand in line to try it, take a pic, interacting and learning about your brand in the process.
I would put this experience in them:
a very simple game (Tetris, floppy bird, puzzles, etc) with our branding on it. Every participant would get an NFT for playing but those who beat the current leader on the leaderboard would get a hoodie as well
a feature that i want to showcase that gives them something (free tokens, points, merch, access, etc)
Dinnertime is busy, I would organize a breakfast for our most important partners, clients and investors, but not just to pay for their food. I would put on a little show and give them something meaningful and cute like we used to give out custom LEGOs at private Guild events on NYC hotel rooftops, rustic Amsterdam chambers, etc. People are supper happy to take home something to their family and most have put it in their office on display. (i cri its so cute)
I would also make sure that every interaction any of our team members have is leading with kindness and being present, if this requires practice, so be it. You feel the difference and it means the world in the long run. I would try to make meetings as memorable as possible, hence the Vaseline, the nails or NFC chips of any kind, games and the custom gifts.
I would make sure to either give them something or give myself an avenue for reaching out to them later with something more than our standard "Can I take your Telegram". Be more thoughtful and kind if you can, and you definitely can.
Need more advice? Lucky us, I am looking to help more teams with their communication strategies.
