Chapter 1: Enki

I managed to scrape the intranet for all communications related to the mysterious sighting of the elusive ETH Chassis. There weren’t many reports, as most citizens know better than to discuss unapproved topics. Those who did speak out about the ETH Chassis obviously do not know the legend surrounding it. But ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it. The eyewitness accounts I collected varied greatly. For example, one local couple reported seeing a shadowy figure of a brunette woman wearing some form of dark, mysterious clothing as she walked down the sidewalk on the corner near the bustling Shibuya station. Suddenly, the ETH Chassis zoomed past her, causing the woman to urgently jump into a green 2-door burner and chase after it, heading towards the bustling Shinjuku district. Another citizen saw a strange, dark car parked across the street with its lights off and its engine running. They turned to their friend to point out the unusual sight, but when they looked back at the car, it had vanished into thin air.

[I have reported the infractions to the Citizen Rating Agency]

However, there was one detail that was consistent across all reports. A distinct lack of noise coming from the car. It wasn’t completely silent, but one witness described it as emitting a "hushed, almost ghostly whisper" compared to the loud roar they would expect it to produce at that speed. It seemed very odd indeed. That, along with the fact that no other witnesses claimed to see the car on a busy Sunday evening, led me to conclude that it must be a prototype model built in Japan by someone with a vast amount of resources and expertise. That, of course, raises yet another issue. Whoever built the ETH Chassis, presumably having a great deal of influence and power to make that happen, must have taken immense pride in their creation. The thought of someone secretly developing a cutting-edge prototype car without the government's knowledge is both intriguing and concerning.

Next, I attempted to access and query the vast and complex Multinet for mention of the elusive ETH Chassis. As usual, I was mostly thwarted by their sophisticated encryption algorithms. However, my own algorithms honed in on one odd detail: a sudden spike in the instances of the symbol, Ξ. Could this be related to the ETH Chassis? Was it simply an artifact of the encryption, or was it a deliberate clue left for me to find? If it was deliberate, then whoever left it wanted me to know about it. To understand its meaning. I'm inclined to believe the latter theory, as the appearance of the symbol has coincided with an uptick in the bold and blatant proliferation of rebels and vandals posting messages calling for the "Save the S Chassis" all throughout the city. It seems that someone, or some group, is trying to send a message and spark a movement.

Was that mysterious girl seen jumping into the green car connected to the vandalism, the enigmatic symbol, and the sudden appearance of the ETH Chassis? It's possible that all of these events are somehow connected. One thing is for certain. If she were to be found, she would be immediately "deleted" with extreme prejudice, and her car would be "cubed" – a cute term used to describe the government's practice of confiscating and compressing vehicles tagged for Purge, into small and extremely dense block no bigger than a microwave. If she is somehow connected to the ETH Chassis, then maybe she has the information I need to understand my own role and its mysterious mission. If I only knew why I was searching for the ETH Chassis, I might be able to ask the right questions. I'm not sure how I can save her from that grim fate if she is caught, if only long enough to question her and learn more.

I methodically searched through various websites and databases, determined to uncover any information I could about the mysterious girl. After scouring through several well-known sites, I was disappointed to find that they yielded no useful information. Just when I was about to give up, I stumbled upon a small public broadcasting page that mentioned a potential lead. According to the NNC broadcast, there had been an incident involving a girl fitting the girl's description on December 13, 2029. Excited by this new development, I continued my investigation, determined to learn more.

Two days after the ETH Chassis mysteriously disappeared from the wet bustling streets of Tokyo, a violent altercation erupted at a popular local eatery. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of men had chased a girl, who matched the description of the missing girl, through the restaurant. The man leading the pursuit tackled the girl, sending tables and chairs flying in the process. The patrons of the establishment intervened, restraining the attacker and allowing the girl to flee the scene. When I reviewed the surveillance footage, there it was, a green 180sx parked in front of the restaurant. However, I wasn’t exactly shocked to find that the video of the attack had been wiped clean as if the incident had never occurred. The official dismissed the incident as a false alarm, stating that it was likely a rumor meant to create fear and discourage people from visiting certain establishments. Typical spin from the WGF Truth Administration.

As I continued to investigate the incident, I scoured through the surrounding area's surveillance footage, looking for any clues that might shed light on the strange events. After hours of meticulous scanning, I finally stumbled upon a curious moment captured on one of the cameras. In the video, a young woman, who appeared to be no older than 25, stood outside one of the nearby buildings. She was dressed entirely in black and held a set of car keys in her hand. The only visible feature on her face was her piercing green eyes, which were fixed in a look of sheer terror. She appeared to be frozen in place as if she had just witnessed something truly horrifying.
