BasementLab is a small group of artists who simply want to do something together just for fun. When we first started, we couldn't even imagine that one day we will host an art contest with more than 100 participants! We feel overwhelmed and appreciate all of you! There are so many excellent submissions, so hard that the judging panel almost ran into a full-scale war because we couldn't agree on the winners. Eventually, we do. Let's recap the contest.

This contest #MoetanxBlueMeow challenges the artists in FNDcommunity to draw under the prompt "friendship between Moetan and Bluemeow". We are looking for creativity, execution, artistic, and passion that the creators have. Originally, there are 1.8 ETH prize pools crowdsourced by BasementLab members (names at the end of the article). Later on, we are honored that Ligaratus and Robek, the two reputable collectors in the space, added more funds to the pool because there are too many good submissions. Now it's 2.8 ETH in total ($5,000USD at the time the contest is hosted.) spread among 11 artists.

When we saw Gesyu's art, we all agreed that this artwork perfectly portrayed their friendship; complete, obvious, and beautiful. Joy, kawaii, silly, and exciting interactions between them make us smile. There are several stories and gimmicks in this artwork that make us feel like they are good friends living among us. We particularly like maid costumes and friend-zoned photoshoot. lol. Gesyu's unique art style and color palette make the joy and happiness stand out even more. Those are the best representation of our relationship in FNDcommunity and hence it deserves the first place.

The snacks and desserts there look so heavenly delicious the judges are jealous of Moetan and blue meow! Our FND community admires not only Japanese anime, but also their cultures, and cuisines, and always wants to visit Japan one day! This artwork makes us feel like we are traveling there to enjoy a good time with the duo. They must be very happy and enjoying their friendship trip.~

We like the concept that Moe-tan and Bluemeow hold each other's hand, ready to leave their comfy house and face the world. There are so many memorable details and gimmicks; the growth chart on the right side reflects their friendship as they grow together over years, photos, shoes, and toys. Together with the artist's cute art style, our judges agree to place this artwork in the 3rd place.

The future is uncertain. Things come and go, but we will always remember those beautiful memories deep in our hearts. Nao Yukai's rendition is very sharp and emotional. Since the first time we saw this artwork, we were very impressed with it.

We were first surprised when seeing this side of friendship that Moonabsorb chose to present, but it quickly sinks into our hearts. As a matter of fact, friendship is not always about happiness. Friendship is the most valuable when we are sad and disappointed. Love and care from our friends fulfill our souls. This art of Moonabsorb beautifully speaks our minds.

We like how the artist illustrated Bluemeow's character as a human form with a bread purse and Moe-tan as a creator. With many funny memes at the back, artist did a good job on showing Bluemeow and Moe-tan's friendship among web3!
