Building a functional village requires a lot of knowledge in a very diverse set of areas. In the process of establishing our regenerative village in Portugal, we have learnt about:
restoring soils, reforesting, increasing biodiversity, sintropic agriculture
producing food in a market garden
improving the short water cycle, building water retention landscapes, building swales
building biopools & lakes
decentralizing utility access through an ERC-20 token + web2 platform
decentralizing governance through an ecosystem of ERC-20 tokens and leveraging existing web3 primitives for governance and automations (Hiring tutor!)
woodwork, metalwork, bio-construction
building community, creating rituals, curating belonging & purpose
sharing and caring for spaces
leading volunteering teams, operating do-ocratic approaches to small scale construction projects, working with portuguese administration, applying for EU, national level, and crypto grants, hosting hackathons, running events
operating an industrial kitchen, producing kombucha, producing hotsauce, cooking for large groups, optimizing inventory to source locally (Hiring tutor!)
Stewardships were initially designed at TDF to curate teams that would comfortably wear multiple hats as operator of a complex system that aims to build and operate environmentally, socially and economically thriving villages.
The team on the ground would like to re-introduce stewardships as an educational platform.
The stewardship would be a 12 week long curated program with a weekly topic of interest. Students can suggest topics of interests, and tutors are brought to respond to specific needs of the project as curated by the team. For this first trial educational stewardship program, the team is proposing this initial calendar draft:
Sep 1, 2024 - Sep 7, 2024: intro week, land tour, WTF is TDF workshop, Going Inner, Connection exercises, consent in community, free diving, BioPool building
Sep 8, 2024 - Sep 14, 2024: Gathering of Tribes camp (optional), garden care, Pool building
Sep 15, 2024 - Sep 21, 2024: Sociocracy/doocracy/dao governance/intro to web3, BioPool building

Who should apply to steward?
If you feel the call, and if the above topics sound of interest, let's chat. This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start a village, anyone curious about building climate solutions from the ground, that wants to get to know the TDF community and understand its mechanics, or maybe even is curious about starting an OASA village. We strongly support diversity - both in our ecosystems and in our stewards. All genders, races, species, and other distinctions of life are encouraged to attend. Sillicone based inteligence will likely be granted access too.Past stewards: Ani, Sam, Kyle, Danny, David, Michal, Jip, Rim, Bea, Josh, Ale, Cori, Gus, Dylan, Daisy, Luiz, Juliana, Daneel, Luna, Elizabeth, Melina, Luca
What will I do?
You commit to 4h of learning by doing, taking part in one of the teams: Land, Kitchen, Meta, Construction. Teams are assembled by preference & skill.
Participate in 1-3 weekly workshops and educational activities.
Experience the full scope of building and running a village and support the ground team in building a regenerative playground.
Support in curating community, co-create the content by providing expertise where you can
Weekly meeting with the team to determine priorities, get feedback, and co-create the weeks schedule.
Cost & Rewards
The program costs will be determined at each season.
At the end of the program, if the participant attends all weeks, they are rewarded with 12 $TDF tokens.
The tutors may allocate a Stewardship NFT based on the students understanding of the principles learned, applied & emodied throughout the 12 week program.
Specific skill based NFTs may as well be issued by TDF or its tutors.
So are you in?
