Welcome home.

We are now fully onchain with our own marketplace and ScapeBound tokens.

Our contract migration went smooth and as planned.

Yesterday night, we deployed an ensemble of 8 new smart contracts that now power Scapes and airdropped 20,000 NFTs.

PunkScapes became relics of the past. They had their art destroyed and have been replaced with 10,000 new Scape NFTs which have been delivered to their respective holders. In addition, we have issued 10,000 SES (Scape Entertainment System) child-NFTs.

Here’s how our world looks post-migration:

PunkScape Relics

PunkScape Relics are remnants of the past and have no use beyond their historical / sentimental value. They are not considered as part of the Scapes ecosystem.

Scapes

Our new Scape NFTs are the same they have always been, but better. Scapes are now fully stored onchain and offer technical nuances for future growth.

Both metadata and art are fully stored onchain, with zero dependencies outside of Ethereum itself. Scapes will exist as long as Ethereum exists.

One of the most exciting features enabled by the new onchain Scapes are Scape-Merges. You will soon be able to create new Scapes by combining multiple Scapes you own. More on this in the coming days.

Marketplace

Our marketplace allows trading Scapes without the need for external platforms or Token Approvals, similar to the way CryptoPunks are traded. We do not charge a marketplace fee, saving you 2.5% in fees compared to OpenSea.

Only-on-Gains Royalties

In the integrated marketplace, we will only charge royalties on sales that result in a profit, incentivizing growth rather than volatility.

We set the initial price-calculation for all new Scapes at 0.1 ETH. So any sale above that will incur our creator-fee. Future sales will keep track of the previous price for each Scape and will adjust the fee accordingly.

Scapes Entertainment System

The Scapes Entertainment System (SES) is a child token that is linked to your Scape. It cannot be traded or sold and will always stay with your Scape, automagically. Currently, it includes Scape Radio and interactive Scapes (Chapter 2), with the potential for many fun future features.

FAQ

Are Scapes trade-able on OpenSea?

Yes. Note, that OpenSea doesn’t support our “Only-on-Gains Royalties” standard, so trading on OpenSea will incur higher fees.

Do Only-on-Gains Royalties account for ETH or $ value?

For ETH value.

I’m on an iPhone or Mac. Why do my Scapes look blurry?

That is a known Safari SVG renderer bug. Apple will implement a fix soon.

Why do all this?

Going onchain was a big and important step for us. This puts us among a very small group of elite crypto-art projects. Also, going fully onchain enables exciting new token dynamics like real Merges.

Why are my Scapes not interactive anymore?

Storing interactive Scapes (Chapter 2) onchain is technically not feasible. So we created a new “Token-Bound” standard, which contains the interactive version of your Scape and automatically follows the parent Scape.

What about the Provenance?

On our website, we seamlessly display a unified provenance for both old and new Scape. On our marketplace, the collection stats include both the old and new contracts.

Why can’t I sell my SES / Scape Extension?

Scape Extension child-NFT are not trade-able and automatically follow the Scape they are connected to. We use them so you can continue to enjoy the interactive Scapes and Scape Radio music after the onchain migration.

When can I create onchain Scape Merges?

You’ll be able to start creating Scape Merges in the next few days.

Does any of this impact Gallery27?

Gallery27 keeps auctioning off the Scape of the day over on the Gallery27 website. You don’t need to do anything.

My question is not mentioned!

Please come over to our Discord or reach out on Twitter. We’re happy to answer further questions you might have.

We’ll provide further deep-dives for all of the above soon.
